Takumi Aldini, a first-year student at Tōtsuki Culinary Academy, is the fraternal elder twin brother of Isami Aldini. Born to Japanese-Italian parents in Florence, Italy, he grew up working at his family's Trattoria Aldini, starting to cook at age five under his father's guidance. Displaying notable talent early on, patrons often requested him over Isami, though Takumi consistently supported his brother and emphasized their future partnership in running the restaurant. Their uncle recommended Tōtsuki, prompting both brothers to move to Japan; their father gifted them bottles of Aldini Olive Oil as protective charms.
Takumi possesses blue-green eyes and short blonde hair, noted for his handsomeness which attracts a dedicated fan club. He wears Tōtsuki's standard uniform and a customized chef's jacket with "Trattoria Aldini" stitched on the sleeve, unchanged since childhood. Outside school, he dresses fashionably as a form of self-expression.
His personality blends calm politeness with fiery competitiveness. He declares Sōma Yukihira his rival after Sōma's orientation speech, creating an initially one-sided rivalry, though Sōma acknowledges his skill. Takumi intensely dislikes losing, reacting bitterly to defeat and becoming easily flustered when others dismiss his declarations. He frequently uses Italian phrases like "buon appetito" and "grazie." His bond with Isami is central; he fiercely defends his brother against critics and works collaboratively despite their skill disparity. Takumi also harbors grudges, exemplified by his focused revenge against Etsuya Eizan for rigging a match.
Specializing in Italian cuisine, Takumi adapts techniques to other styles, like using Japanese uruka to create a salsa verde during Tōtsuki's training camp. His signature tool is a mezzaluna knife, symbolizing his heritage. At the camp, he challenged Sōma to a duel judged by Hinako Inui, resulting in a draw after both presented innovative dishes—Takumi's grilled Aigamo duck with spices and Sōma's char okakiage—intensifying Takumi's drive to surpass Sōma.
During the Autumn Elections, Takumi lost to Subaru Mimasaka after Eizan manipulated the match, costing him his mezzaluna. Sōma later won the knife back, but Takumi refused it, vowing to reclaim it himself through fair victory. This defeat forced introspection, revealing complacency in his cooking.
In the Regiment de Cuisine against Central, Takumi defeated Eizan by anticipating sabotage with artichokes, showcasing strategic growth and avenging his loss. This victory earned him the 7th Seat in the Elite Ten Council.
At the BLUE tournament, he faced Noir chef Don Kama, who captured Isami. Left alone, Takumi accepted Sōma's assistance, lending him the mezzaluna—a gesture signifying deep trust and respect. Their seamless collaboration defeated Don Kama, highlighting Takumi's evolution from rivalry to partnership.
