OVA
Description
Emily Orange is a Western transfer student attending the Japanese branch of the California Coast High School, who serves as the Shooter for the Unkai Surfers team in partnership with Jennifer Peach. Her deep fascination with Japanese culture, specifically ninjas, anime, and idols, was the primary motivation for her move to Japan, as she harbored the earnest desire to encounter real shinobi. This passion is a defining aspect of her personality, often manifesting in stereotypical ninja hand poses and the use of outdated words and phrases reminiscent of Medieval England, which she incorporates casually into her everyday speech. She exhibits a high degree of emotional responsiveness, becoming easily thrilled by Japanese cultural elements and just as quickly disheartened by conflicts among friends or other racers.

Physically, Emily stands 170 centimeters tall and has a birthday on September 19th. She has short, neck-length blond hair, often styled with a silver shinobi-style headband beneath her bangs, and blue-grey eyes. Her most distinctive physical trait is her tanned skin, which is a darker tone compared to most other characters in the series. Her casual attire consists of a schoolgirl uniform, including a white shirt with rolled-up sleeves, an orange fabric belt, a blue and white striped pleated skirt, and red-strapped sandals. Her look is accessorized with ear piercings, a prayer tag necklace, and an orange and yellow wristband. In contrast, her racing outfit is heavily shinobi-themed, featuring a dark grey and silver one-piece bodysuit with a mini-corset, armor pads on her hips and arms, shinobi-style leg coverings, and a flowing navy blue cape.

In the story, Emily and her teammate Jennifer form the Unkai Surfers. Unlike many other teams whose primary goal is to win the Kandagawa Cup, their personal quest is to become真正的 shinobi. To this end, they seek training from Kuromaru Manpuku, who is initially taken aback by their request and declines due to cultural barriers. After achieving a victory against the Dress team, Kuromaru endorses them, allowing them to begin their path as shinobi. However, upon reaching this goal, the pair immediately shifts their focus to exploring other Japanese cultural roles, much to the dismay of others. In her role as a Shooter, Emily is proficient with a water bazooka, using it during Jet Races to trigger the purge safety mechanisms on opposing teams' watercraft. Her combat style is characterized by powerful, destructive blasts.

Emily shares a very close partnership with Jennifer Peach, as they are both Western students with an obsessive interest in Japanese culture, with Emily favoring ninjas while Jennifer is partial to samurai. They actively encourage each other’s enthusiastic behavior, for better or worse, and are often seen sharing the same awe for idols and anime. Emily is also a friendly and physically affectionate person, displaying warmth towards other characters. Examples include feeding Yuzu Midorikawa a piece of canned orange and, during a beach outing, joining Jennifer in embracing Rin Namiki. Throughout the series, she maintains a friendly rivalry with other racing teams, primarily focused on having fun and expressing her love for Japanese culture rather than the cutthroat nature of competition. In the OVA, she also participates in creating promotional content for Jet Racing, contributing her energy to a lighthearted acting segment.
