Description
Freddie is a native inhabitant of the planet Eldora, which is initially mistaken for a mission area within the Gunpla Battle Nexus Online (GBN) game. He lives in a village with his father, Tonoi, who is the village chief, his elder brother Jed, a platoon leader in the Eldoran Resistance, and his elder sister Maiya. Freddie is a young, energetic, and deeply curious individual, often acting on impulse and prone to jumping to conclusions. He refers to the GBN Divers as Creators and their Gunpla as spiritual bodies, reflecting his unique perspective on their powers.
Freddies primary motivation throughout the story is the protection of his home and the other people of Eldora from the One-Eyes, a hostile force of unmanned mobile suits led by an AI called Alus. After experiencing a devastating attack on his village, he seeks out a way to summon help. His role in the story is that of a crucial guide and summoner for the protagonist team, which consists of Hiroto, Kazami, May, and Parviz. Freddie discovers ancient ruins on Eldora that contain technology capable of connecting to the GBN network. Through this connection, he watches recordings of GBN battles and becomes aware of the original Build Divers. By activating the ruins, he is able to send out a distress signal, which successfully summons the new team, who name themselves BUILD DiVERS after his call for help.
Freddie shares key relationships with the entire BUILD DiVERS team, acting as their primary point of contact on Eldora and developing a bond of trust with each member. He often rides into battle on their Gunpla, such as Kazamis Gundam Justice Knight or Hirotos Core Gundam, to act as a lookout or guide. His relationship with his brother Jed is significant; Jed is a soldier in the Resistance who, despite initial appearances, entrusts Freddie with the crucial task of summoning and guiding the BUILD DiVERS from the front lines rather than fighting directly. The loss of Jed during the destruction of the floating city of Seguri is a pivotal emotional moment for Freddie.
Over the course of the story, Freddie undergoes notable development, particularly in the second season. After the destruction of Seguri and the temporary disappearance of the BUILD DiVERS, he falls into despair but ultimately finds the resolve to clear the rubble from the ancient ruins and reactivate the summoning system. This act demonstrates a growth from a curious child into a resilient individual capable of persevering through tragedy. He begins to take a more proactive role in the defense of his world, even helping to persuade the sacred beast Cuadorn to accept the BUILD DiVERS help and aiding in the restoration of its wings.
Freddies most notable ability is not combat-oriented but logistical and mystical. He possesses the unique capability to use the mechanisms in the ancient Eldoran ruins to summon the BUILD DiVERS from the GBN game world into the real world of Eldora, a process facilitated by a substance known as Shining Sand that materializes the GBN data. While not a fighter, he demonstrates bravery by acting as a scout and messenger in high-risk situations, often accompanying the team into battle zones.
