Description
Elysia de Lute Ima, known as Elsie, is a 300-year-old demon agent from New Hell assigned to the Runaway Spirit Squad, tracking dangerous spirits escaping into the human world. Her demeanor often resembles an adolescent human despite her age. She possesses long, dark hair usually in a high ponytail, wavy when loose, standing 159 cm tall (including her hair bun) and weighing 44 kg, with measurements of 83-58-84. Her signature gear includes a versatile hagoromo used for invisibility, manipulation, and disguise, a skull-shaped spirit sensor, and a contract collar binding her to duty. She alternates between a violet kimono with lavender thigh-high socks and the Maijama High uniform.

Originally a Hell custodian promoted due to personnel shortages, Elsie retains exceptional cleaning skills but suffers from minimal training and chronic incompetence in spirit capture. She cherishes her specialized broom, used for 298 years, marking it with spirit-counters (strokes for single captures, thick lines for groups of ten). Her frequent operational failures include destroying houses with her broom's power settings, substituting the Spirit Squad manual with a cookbook, and damaging Keima Katsuragi's gaming device by washing it. Yet, she demonstrates occasional resourcefulness, improvising confinement tactics when cornered.

Elsie exhibits relentless optimism, loyalty, and childlike innocence. She forms a contract with protagonist Keima Katsuragi and forges documents to pose as his illegitimate half-sister, Eri Katsuragi, living with his family to maintain proximity for missions. Her devotion to Keima evolves from duty to genuine affection; she fiercely defends him and seeks his approval despite insults. Socially adaptable, she integrates into human life, befriending classmates, joining Chihiro Kosaka's band (2-B Pencils) as a left-handed bassist, and attracting customers at the family café.

Fascinated by human culture, her interests include Japanese history (pre-1853), modern idols like Kanon Nakagawa, and fire trucks, which excite her. In the OVA *Magical Star Kanon 100%*, her fandom leads her to audition for Kanon's little sister in a TV drama. During this mission, she encounters a runaway spirit that transforms Kanon into a child. Collaborating with Kanon, Elsie captures the spirit, perfectly mimicking the idol's singing and dancing to preserve her public image, though her unorthodox replies slightly damage Kanon's popularity.

A pivotal arc reveals Elsie is a dormant entity historically used as a weapon of mass destruction. Supervisor Dokuro Skull concealed her in a human body and assigned her to Earth to prevent rebel exploitation. Over time, she grows deeply fond of the human world. After helping Keima avert apocalyptic threats, she chooses to permanently remain as his adoptive sister, solidifying her bond with the Katsuragi family.

Additional details include her vocal tics ("Hau~", "Awah~") during distress, her left-handedness evident in broom handling and bass playing, and her victory in a global character popularity poll earning her a cover feature in Volume 11 of the manga. Her name carries multilingual meanings ("noble" in German, "God's oath" in English) and is abbreviated as "94" in shorthand references.
