Description
Daisukenojo Bito, called Beat, is a muscular blond teenager with blue eyes, immersed in skateboarding culture. He typically wears a black beanie featuring a large skull, a white tank-top layered over red lacing or a sleeveless shirt, beige cargo shorts, and red-and-black shoes. His accessories include a black chain skull necklace, a left-wrist bracelet, and pants chains, primarily Wild Boar brand. Later, his appearance shifts: a black hooded jacket with white crossbones over a white shirt and chain necklace, baggy black pants, and red-and-black shoes. He conceals his identity with a face mask covering up to his nose and longer hair obscuring his right eye, later revealing black headphones when the mask is removed.

Academically overshadowed by his younger sister Rhyme, Beat endured constant parental comparisons and degradation, fueling resentment and arguments that led him to abandon academic effort. Though Rhyme encouraged him to pursue his dreams, he pushed her away, uncomfortable with her perceived pity, straining their relationship. Their confrontation in Miyashita Park Underpass ended tragically when both were struck and killed by a car as Beat tried to save Rhyme. This plunged them into the Reapers' Game as partners, with Beat's entry fee costing Rhyme's memories and affection for him, erasing their relationship entirely.

Within the Game, Beat exhibits a hot-headed, impulsive nature coupled with a fierce sense of justice, reacting angrily to perceived dishonesty—especially from Reapers like Uzuki and Kariya after Rhyme's erasure. Despite a brash exterior and occasional comprehension struggles, he demonstrates profound loyalty and protectiveness, particularly toward Rhyme. During Week 1, he races to complete missions while safeguarding her, forming temporary alliances with Players Neku Sakuraba and Shiki Misaki. When Rhyme sacrifices herself to save him from Noise, a distraught Beat receives a pin forged from her soul by Sanae Hanekoma, though he initially cannot wield it.

Seeking answers about the pin, Beat becomes a Reaper in Week 2 under the Conductor's orders to eliminate Neku and Joshua. His attempts fail repeatedly. After dropping Rhyme's pendant during a confrontation, Neku returns it, fostering mutual respect. As a Reaper, Beat gains skeletal wings but abandons the role upon learning Neku faces an unfair rule in Week 3. He forfeits his Reaper status to partner with Neku, costing him his entry fee (Rhyme's Noise pin) and leaving him with a limited lifespan due to zero erasures as a Reaper. Their pact drives Beat to accelerate mission completion to recover Rhyme, showcasing his unwavering determination.

In later events, Beat resurfaces in another Reapers' Game, initially disguised to resemble Neku. Mistaken for him, he joins the Wicked Twisters. His veteran Player experience makes him a strategic asset; he leverages knowledge of the Game's mechanics and Shibuya's evolving dynamics to aid the team. His core traits—protectiveness, impulsivity, and fierce loyalty—remain consistent, reflecting his evolution from a self-isolating individual to one actively fighting for others' survival.
