Description
Morgana is a mysterious cat-like creature discovered in Kamoshida's Palace during the Phantom Thieves' first infiltration. Though suffering amnesia about his origins, he possesses extensive knowledge of the Metaverse, Palaces, and cognitive phenomena. Created by Igor from humanity's collective will to guide the protagonist, his existence is intrinsically tied to Mementos and the broader Metaverse.

In the real world, Morgana appears as an ordinary tuxedo cat, communicating solely with those who encountered him within the Metaverse, and resides with the protagonist at Café Leblanc. Within the Metaverse, he takes an anthropomorphic, bipedal form with black and white fur, a yellow scarf, a utility belt, and a mask covering most of his face. He transforms into a van (modeled after the Citroën H Van) to navigate Mementos. He also temporarily attained a human form with sleek blue hair and modern attire during events in *Persona 5 Royal*.

Morgana's personality blends arrogance, intelligence, and deep-seated insecurity. He frequently boasts about his combat prowess and knowledge, often insulting Ryuji Sakamoto's intelligence, and exhibits chivalry towards female teammates, particularly Ann Takamaki. However, he harbors a profound identity crisis, vehemently denying being merely a cat and believing himself a human transformed by Metaverse distortions. This fuels his primary motivation: regaining his memories and true form by guiding the Phantom Thieves. His flaws include recklessness around treasure and an inability to devise effective codenames.

His character development centers on overcoming feelings of uselessness. After Futaba Sakura joins as a superior Navigator and Makoto Niijima assumes strategic leadership, Morgana feels sidelined. Perceiving his teammates, especially Ryuji, as treating him like a pet, his insecurities culminate in a heated argument and temporary departure. Teaming with Haru Okumura to infiltrate her father's Palace fails, forcing him to confront his limitations. Encouraged by Haru and Ann, he rejoins, acknowledging his belonging with the Phantom Thieves regardless of form or origins. He shifts focus from becoming human to supporting the team's goals.

During the climax against Yaldabaoth, Morgana plays a pivotal role. He vanishes alongside his Metaverse form after Mementos merges with reality but later reappears as a normal cat following Yaldabaoth's defeat. His return signifies the restoration of his true purpose and bond with the team.

Across spin-off media, Morgana consistently serves as a guide and playable character:
- In *Persona 5 Strikers*, he assists the Phantom Thieves in navigating Jails within the EMMA Metaverse, retaining his transformation abilities.
- *Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight* features him in his Metaverse form participating in dance competitions.
- *Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth* and *Persona 5 Tactica* include him as a playable team member utilizing his Persona, Zorro, specializing in wind attacks and healing magic.
His Confidant abilities (Magician Arcana) focus on crafting infiltration tools and providing combat support skills like Baton Pass and healing allies.
