Takeshi proves observant about medical professionals, identifying the hologram attendant as the missing Nurse Joy from Old Shore Wharf despite initial skepticism; Mewtwo later confirms this by releasing Nurse Joy from psychic control. During the storm at Old Shore Wharf, he stays with the group seeking transport to New Island and boards Team Rocket's disguised vessel. His Pokémon team features Vulpix, which battles Mewtwo's cloned Pokémon. Mewtwo confiscates Vulpix for cloning along with the other challengers' Pokémon. Takeshi carries Pokémon, including Vulpix and others not explicitly named, in standard Poké Balls.
