Description
Rika Suzuki, a survivor of the 1995 Kobe earthquake, carries the weight of lost friends and classmates, a trauma that drove her to suppress her Kansai dialect and obscure her origins after relocating to Tokyo. Her guarded approach to her past contrasts with a habit of playfully probing others’ histories, revealing a layered hypocrisy. At a call center, her bond with Emi Yusa blossomed through mutual discretion after Emi refrained from questioning Rika’s background despite overhearing her accent. Their friendship thrives on teasing banter, particularly Rika’s persistent shipping of Emi with Sadao Maou, though her initial hostility toward Sadao—a tsundere-esque test of his worthiness—softened into wary acceptance.

Curiosity extends to Sadao’s roommate, Shirō Ashiya, whom Rika pursues romantically. After a rejected confession in volume 13, she reignites her efforts in volume 16, interpreting his ambiguous response as unresolved potential. Though initially an outsider to the supernatural, Rika’s accidental entanglement via Emi’s Idea Link thrusts her into clashes with angels, culminating in Ashiya’s kidnapping and her rescue by Amane.

Resourceful and humor-driven, Rika navigates magical crises without powers, aided by a sharp wit and a love for MgRonald’s fries, which she sneakily stockpiles. Her “cuteness proximity” reflex—exemplified by bear-hugging Chiho Sasaki in a work uniform—balances her mischievous charm. As a loyal confidante, she blends comic relief with steadfast support, adapting seamlessly to the group’s chaos while quietly prioritizing their collective well-being.
