Description
Junichi Wanima is a contender in the Blue Lock project and the older twin brother of Keisuke Wanima. Before entering the program, he and his brother attended Rajitsu Tech, where their dominant play earned them the reputation as the "double aces" of their school team. This status was challenged by the arrival of Hyoma Chigiri, whose natural speed made him the team's new star, a change that created lasting resentment from the Wanima brothers.

Physically, Junichi is an imposing figure, standing at 182 centimeters tall with spiky hair and distinctive eyebrows shaped like a crocodile's. This reptilian theme extends to his surname, which contains the character for crocodile. His appearance is almost identical to his twin brother, though Junichi typically has a more stoic, tight-lipped expression in contrast to Keisuke's more animated features.

In terms of personality, Junichi initially comes across as the strong, silent type, often communicating with grunts, facial expressions, and his signature exclamation "Kwah!" while his more talkative brother serves as his spokesperson. This impression is misleading, as Junichi is fully capable of speaking and is actually quite emotional and hot-tempered. He simply struggles to articulate his thoughts, leading Keisuke to instinctively translate his feelings for him. This dynamic extends to their competitive nature; along with his twin, Junichi thinks of himself as superior to other players and is not above playing dirty to win, as demonstrated when he and his brother accepted a deal with a traitorous teammate during the First Selection.

The core of Junichi's character is his deep, almost symbiotic relationship with his twin brother. From the age of three, the two have done everything together, with football being their shared obsession. On the field, their greatest weapon is a unique ability simply called "Eye Contact," where their closeness and perfect timing allow them to execute powerful combination plays with nonverbal cues. His entire identity and playing style is built around this partnership. When Team W fails to advance past the First Selection and only the top scorer of each team can proceed, Junichi is forced to continue alone after Keisuke is eliminated. This separation is devastating for him, described as one of the few times he has cried, but it also crystallizes his new motivation: to work hard and succeed in Blue Lock for both their sakes.

During the Second Selection, Junichi struggles without his brother's support, revealing the primary weakness of his abilities is their dependence on a partner. Despite this, he demonstrates resilience and unexpected leadership, forming a new team with players like Jingo Raichi and Gin Gagamaru and convincing them to join him. He continues to advance, ultimately reaching the Neo Egoist League, where he joins the England stratum team, Manshine City, a choice that aligns with his preference for a physical, high-impact style of football. Although he receives financial offers for his play, he eventually ends his Blue Lock journey with a final overall ranking of 30th place. Off the field, Junichi has a surprising soft spot for the series Detective Conan and an intense dislike for celery. He also practices strengthening his facial muscles, hoping to make his own emotions easier for his brother to read, a glimpse into his quieter, more vulnerable side and his desire to bridge the communication gap he feels.
