Description
Poncho Panacotta is a supporting character in the anime How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom. He is a heavyset man with short brown hair, blue eyes, and a rounded face, and he comes from a rural village background. Before the events of the story, he spent his entire personal fortune traveling around the continent to sample foods, an activity that turned him into a genuine explorer of cuisine with practical knowledge of ingredients, their habitats and growing areas, and the local cooking methods of many regions.

When the kingdom's new ruler holds a talent search to gather gifted citizens, Poncho is among the five people discovered. His particular gift is food: he has an appetite and a level of knowledge about eating that few can match. For his contribution he receives the honorary name Isizuka, which means the one who persistently searches for food, a reference to a famous food evangelist from the king's original world. During the kingdom's food shortage, he spends two weeks flying across the continent on a royal wyvern to collect edible foodstuffs, then takes part in the first Jewel Voice Broadcast program alongside Juna Doma to demonstrate what people can eat and how to prepare it. These efforts help resolve the crisis, and he is appointed Minister of Agriculture and Forestry in the new Kingdom of Friedonia.

In personality, Poncho is soft-spoken and somewhat lacking in self-confidence, often growing timid and flustered in unfamiliar situations. His motivation comes from a sincere love of food and a wish to put his unusual knowledge to use for others. His earnest manner, combined with his practical results, makes him widely liked, and after he helps ease food shortages in both the former Elfrieden and former Amidonia territories, the people of both lands come to regard him almost like a food god, with great popularity among men and women alike.

Within the court, Poncho is loyal to King Kazuya Souma and serves him as a dependable specialist in food and agriculture policy. He works closely with Juna Doma during the educational broadcasts, and he develops a growing, possibly romantic attachment to Serina, the head maid in charge of Princess Liscia. Over the course of the story, he develops from an uncertain enthusiast into a trusted government official, and later in the narrative he also takes on the position of governor of Venetinova while retaining his identity as a tireless searcher for good food.

His notable abilities include an exceptional palate and memory for tastes, deep knowledge of edible plants and animals across the continent, skill in explaining food and preparation methods to ordinary people, and the administrative competence needed to manage agricultural policy on a national scale.
