Description
Ian Stuart is a supporting character in the second season of the anime. He is the second eldest of the four princes of the kingdom, placing him in the line of succession for the throne. His appearance is marked by short blonde hair and blue eyes, features he shares with his younger brother, Geordo. Ian typically dresses in formal royal attire, often seen in a white suit with a blue waistcoat and a long blue scarf.

By nature, Ian is a serious and stoic individual, carrying himself with a rigid formality. He is known for his single-minded dedication to his goals and his straightforward, genuine approach to matters, a trait that makes him surprisingly easy to read despite his impassive facade. This serious exterior, however, hides a deeply emotional interior. He struggles to express his feelings, often holding back his true emotions, which leads others to perceive him as cold or indifferent. In reality, he has a secret fondness for small and cute things.

As a prince, Ian is a capable and gifted individual, proficient in both his magical studies and swordsmanship. He is considered a major contender for the crown, rivaling his older brother, Geoffrey. While the brothers themselves get along, the existence of political factions supporting each of them creates distance in their relationship. Because Geoffrey is the first prince and next in line, Ian is mindful of his position and has even delayed his own marriage out of consideration for his brother.

Ian’s most significant relationship is with his fiancée, Selena Berg. The two have been engaged since the age of nine. While Selena believes he has no interest in her, the opposite is true. Ian fell in love with her at first sight, captivated by her gentle and kind demeanor. He finds her incredibly beautiful and lovable. However, his difficulty in expressing emotions, combined with a strict sense of propriety that discourages physical affection before marriage, causes him to distance himself from her. He holds back his feelings to a degree that his devotion remains a secret from her.

This misunderstanding plays a key role in the story, as it indirectly contributes to the circumstances of a kidnapping event involving the protagonist, Katarina Claes. The crisis forces Ian to confront his emotional barriers. In the aftermath, he vows to communicate his feelings more clearly, finally confessing his love to Selena and mending their bond. This event marks his primary character development, as he begins to shed his formal stoicism and learn to openly share his emotions with the people who matter to him.
