Description
Brina Samantha Travis (née Miller) was born in Meridian City, Australia. Following her father's legacy, she became a Ranger and second-generation Jaeger pilot in the Pan Pacific Defense Corps. She married fellow Ranger Ford Travis, and they had two children: Taylor and Hayley. Brina co-piloted the Jaeger Hunter Vertigo alongside Ford, operating from the left hemisphere of the Conn-Pod.
During Operation Blackout—the evacuation of Australia after a massive Kaiju incursion—Brina and Ford defended Meridian City, defeating the Kaiju Bone Spur. While evacuating civilians, including their children, Hunter Vertigo was ambushed by the Category III Kaiju Acidquill. Witnessing the destruction of their partner Jaeger Marauder Zeus, they relocated survivors to Shadow Basin. When Acidquill attacked again, Brina and Ford disabled Hunter Vertigo's compromised cryo cannon, using it as a melee weapon before detonating a nuclear warhead inside the Kaiju’s mouth. They then left their children and other evacuees at a hidden oasis, intending to signal for help from Sydney.
After a battle in Clayton City critically damaged Hunter Vertigo, Brina and Ford abandoned it. They recorded a final message urging Marshal Rask to rescue the Shadow Basin evacuees before escaping into Kaiju-infested territory. Ford was separated from Brina during the evacuation; the Pan Pacific Defense Corps subsequently prevented his return to Australia. Brina was captured by the cult Sisters of the Kaiju, who brainwashed her into their service.
Years later, Brina reappeared as a masked Sister during the cult's attempt to transform the human-Kaiju hybrid "Boy" into their messiah. Her children confronted the Sisters, revealing her identity. Shane, a former antagonist, sacrificed himself using Atlas Destroyer's technology to sever the Sisters' mental control, freeing Brina. Though critically wounded by Kaiju hounds called Rippers during the rescue mission, she guided her children through the Sisters' lair to save Boy. As she succumbed to her injuries, her daughter Hayley initiated a neural drift, creating a simulated reunion where Brina died peacefully envisioning her family united.
Brina’s piloting style emphasized tactical sacrifice, often enduring damage to Hunter Vertigo's left side to secure victories. Her use of "papa" for her dog tags implied her father was also a Jaeger pilot, establishing Taylor as a third-generation pilot. Despite her brainwashing, she retained subconscious recognition of her son, visibly reacting to him during their encounter.
