Description
Nazuna is a veteran player of the MMORPG Elder Tale and was among the thirty thousand Japanese players who became trapped within the game world after the Catastrophe. Before the events of Log Horizon, she was a member of the Debauchery Tea Party, a renowned group of skilled players who completed numerous high-difficulty raids together. In the real world, she worked as a dental assistant in her twenties. Her in-game avatar is a member of the Fox Tail race, with very long purple hair, brown eyes, and animal ears. She stands at 167 centimeters tall and has a slender figure, though she appears somewhat uncomfortable with her own appearance.
Her personality is that of an elder sister type: reliable, helpful, and caring toward those around her. She is levelheaded and practical, often serving as a stabilizing presence within her guild. However, she has a notable weakness for gambling, reflected in her chosen subclass of Gambler. She also possesses the unusual ability to convincingly act drunk without having consumed any alcohol. Despite her composed exterior, she can become deeply concerned when those she cares about act recklessly; she has privately worried that her guild master's intense personality could lead him to destroy the very organization he built.
Her primary motivation is supporting her guild and its members, particularly its leader. She acts out of a sense of duty and loyalty rather than personal ambition, and she prefers to work behind the scenes to maintain order and effectiveness within the group.
Nazuna serves as the sub-guildmaster of the West Wind Brigade, a prominent combat-oriented guild in Akiba. In this role, she functions as the second-in-command, handling much of the practical and administrative work that keeps the guild running smoothly. She participates in major operations alongside her guildmates, including Operation Capture and the Shibuya Raid Team. She is also counted among the main characters of the Log Horizon: West Wind Brigade spin-off manga.
Her key relationship is with Soujiro Seta, the guild master of the West Wind Brigade. She is a longtime acquaintance of his, having known him since their days in the Debauchery Tea Party. While she is often grouped among the women who surround Soujiro, her feelings toward him are more platonic than romantic. She is deeply loyal to him but is also one of the few people who recognizes the potential danger of his temperament. Her other significant relationships are with her fellow guild members, including Isami, Yomi, Saki, and Kyouko, with whom she coordinates closely in both daily operations and combat.
Nazuna's class is Kannagi, a healer and support role, and she is described as an excellent healer. Her subclass is Gambler, which complements her personal interest in games of chance. Her Overskill, called Heavenly Road, is an adaptation of the Kannagi skill Purification Barrier: instead of using the barrier to block attacks, she arranges small blue plates in the air as footholds, allowing her and her allies to traverse areas that would otherwise be inaccessible. This creative use of a standard skill demonstrates her experience and ingenuity as a veteran player.
Nazuna experienced some development throughout the series, as she faces the challenges of the new world not just as a fighter but as a leader responsible for the well-being of her guild. She continues to serve as the steady, dependable anchor of the West Wind Brigade, balancing its headstrong leader and ensuring the guild remains cohesive and effective in the face of the unknown.
