Description
Sanya V. Litvyak, formally Aleksandra Vladimirovna Litvyak, originates from Orussia and serves in the Orussia Imperial Army. Born in Moscow and raised in Vienna, she studied music there with her parents until the Neuroi appeared in the Black Sea region. Admired by renowned Orussian witch Squadron Leader Marisha Raskova, Sanya applied to become a military witch. Her talents secured her a transfer to the beginner training unit, the 586 Fighter Regiment, at a young age. During this period, her parents disappeared while attempting evacuation to the Urals, leaving Sanya convinced they remain alive. She later enlisted as a Pilot Officer and continued fighting in Britannia. Upon the formation of the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, she joined as a promoted Flying Officer.
Characterized by silver hair, pale skin, and a nocturnal lifestyle, Sanya exhibits a quiet, introverted personality. She often appears fatigued during daylight, earning her "ghost-like" descriptions among peers. Her reserved nature limits social interactions within the 501st, though she desires deeper friendships. She frequently hums "Sanya’s Song," a piece composed by her father, maintaining a connection to her family and reflecting her piano skills learned from him. Despite her shyness, she demonstrates patience and kindness. Her closest bond is with Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen, who provides constant companionship and physical guidance during Sanya's sleepwalking episodes. This relationship evolves into profound mutual reliance, with Eila acting protectively. Sanya expresses annoyance at Eila’s habit of touching others but notes Eila never does so to her, causing confusion. She also develops friendships with Yoshika Miyafuji, Erica Hartmann, and Ursula Hartmann, though socializing remains challenging.
Sanya’s primary ability is the "Magic Antenna" (魔導針, Madō Shin), interacting with radio waves. This enables long-range detection via ionospheric reflection, with accuracy improving significantly at shorter distances. The antenna manifests as needle-like light beams resembling a Lichtenstein radar array. She uses it to locate Neuroi, guide other witches, and rebroadcast transmissions. As a rare Night Witch, her capabilities are crucial for countering Neuroi activities in darkness. Her combat equipment includes the Fliegerhammer rocket launcher, derived from the experimental Fliegerfaust. She utilizes several Striker Units: an early-model MiG60 with a white lily emblem; a nighttime-painted late-model MiG60 with refined aerodynamics; and the prototype MiG i-225, featuring her personal emblem and a white arrow.
Her development includes forming a night patrol team with Yoshika and Eila shortly after Yoshika’s transfer. This trio confronted and overcame a new Neuroi variant specifically designed to eliminate Sanya. Later, during a mission targeting a high-altitude Neuroi spire in Romagna, Sanya was selected to attack the core using rocket boosters. Eila’s initial exclusion from a protective role triggered conflict, resolved when Eila mastered shield usage and safeguarded Sanya during the stratosphere operation. Following Gallia's liberation and the 501st’s disbandment, Sanya and Eila relocated to Suomus’s frontier, stationed temporarily at Kauhava Airbase. During this period, Sanya searched for her parents on vacations and met Suomus witches like Nikka Edvardine Katajainen. She later reunited with the 501st upon its reformation in Romagna.
Her relationships extend beyond Eila. She admires Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke’s kindness, recalls accompanying Perrine H. Clostermann’s song on piano, and values Lynette Bishop’s company despite struggling to initiate conversations. She cherishes celebrating shared birthdays with Yoshika Miyafuji and maintains multi-hour conversations with Erica Hartmann, though neither recalls the topics. She also befriended Squadron Leader Schnaufer of the Karlslander Night Witches Corps during joint training, exchanging QSL cards for night communications.
