Description
Aleksandra Vladimirovna Litvyak, known as Sanya or Lilya, hails from Orussia. Born in Moscow on August 18, 1930, she grew up in Vienna where her pianist father taught her music, instilling a love for piano and singing. He composed "Sanya's Song," a melody she often hums, holding onto hope for reunion after their separation during the Neuroi invasion; she firmly believes her parents survived and remains determined to find them.

Sanya joined the military following the Neuroi's appearance in the Black Sea region. Her exceptional talent led her to train with the 586th Fighter Regiment before transferring to the 501st Joint Fighter Wing as a Flying Officer. She specialized in night operations, utilizing her rare abilities as a Night Witch.

Physically, Sanya possesses silver hair and pale skin, earning her the alias "White Lily of Tsaritsyn." Her delicate, fleeting appearance is often described as ghostlike. When equipped with her Striker Unit, she exhibits feline traits—black cat ears and a tail—reflecting her familiar.

Personality-wise, Sanya is introverted and soft-spoken, struggling with daytime social interactions due to her nocturnal duties; fatigue from night patrols limits her daytime activities, prompting comparisons to a specter. Despite this, she demonstrates kindness, patience, and musical talent, quietly desiring connection with her squadronmates. Separation from her family contributes to periods of sadness, though she gradually develops greater self-assurance.

Her primary ability, "Magic Antenna," allows interaction with radio waves for long-range Neuroi detection via ionospheric reflection, though accuracy improves at shorter distances. This power includes guiding allied aircraft and rebroadcasting transmissions. As a Night Witch, her skills are crucial for countering Neuroi advantages in darkness. In combat, she employs a modified rocket launcher called the Fliegerhammer and uses several Striker Units: an early-model MiG60, a nighttime-optimized late-model MiG60, and the prototype MiG i-225.

Key relationships define aspects of her development. Eila Juutilainen is her closest companion; their partnership evolves into deep mutual reliance and romantic undertones. Eila's protectiveness surfaces during high-stakes missions, such as shielding Sanya during a stratosphere operation to destroy a Neuroi core. Conflicts arise when Eila objects to others guarding Sanya, ultimately strengthening their bond after reconciliation. Sanya befriends Yoshika Miyafuji during joint night missions, bonding over shared birthdays and combat experiences. She interacts sporadically with other 501st members, expressing admiration for Minna Wilcke's kindness and Shirley Yeager's sociability, while noting Gertrud Barkhorn's underlying care despite initial intimidation.

Character progression occurs across multiple arcs. Early missions involve forming a night combat team with Yoshika and Eila to confront Neuroi tailored to target her. A pivotal moment is her stratosphere attack on a Neuroi spire, where Eila's protective intervention resolves prior friction. After the 501st's temporary disbandment, Sanya and Eila relocate to Suomus near the Orussian frontier, using leave time to search for her parents. They visit Kauhava Airbase, where Sanya meets Suomus witches like Nikka Katajainen. In Operation Victory Arrow, a post-credits scene depicts her and Eila at the Brave Witches' frontline base.

Her narrative consistently intertwines personal hope for family reunion with military dedication, showcasing resilience amid vulnerability.
