Takeshi "Gian" Goda is a large, physically strong boy with a tan complexion and black hair. His nickname "Gian," derived from "giant," reflects his imposing stature and his role as the neighborhood bully. He frequently takes toys, comics, or gadgets from other children, especially Nobita Nobi, under the pretext of "borrowing," enforcing his will through physical intimidation. Despite his aggression, he shows deep fear and submission toward his mother, who runs a grocery store and punishes him severely for misbehavior. Gian displays overconfidence in his poor singing voice and cooking skills, oblivious to their negative impact, and forces others to attend his concerts or taste his food. He captains a local baseball team called "The Giants," which frequently loses due to the weak skills of members like Nobita and Suneo Honekawa. Gian often blames Nobita for losses but keeps him on the team due to a lack of players. Beneath his bullying, he exhibits occasional loyalty and protectiveness, particularly toward his younger sister Jaiko, assisting her with comic writing and reacting fiercely to any perceived slights against her. His relationships are complex. He maintains a volatile friendship with Suneo, who acts as his sidekick yet sometimes resists or conspires against him. With Nobita, Gian alternates between relentless bullying—claiming he "can't eat or sleep" without tormenting him—and unexpected concern, such as offering medicine during illness or saving him in peril. He refrains from aggression toward Shizuka Minamoto, ceasing bullying when she intervenes, though she avoids his concerts and cooking. In *Stand By Me Doraemon*, Gian participates in bullying Nobita early on, contributing to Nobita's despair. Later, when Doraemon prepares to leave, Nobita confronts Gian in a fight to prove self-reliance. Gian initially overpowers Nobita but forfeits upon witnessing Nobita's unwavering determination. At the film's conclusion, Gian tricks Nobita on April Fools' Day by falsely claiming Doraemon has returned, provoking Nobita to use a truth-reversal gadget for retaliation. This inadvertently ensures Doraemon's permanent return. Gian's background includes his family's grocery store and a pet dog, Muku, primarily cared for by Jaiko, though Gian shows underlying affection for the animal. Flashbacks reveal longstanding childhood friendships with Nobita, Suneo, and Shizuka that persist into adulthood. His future self evolves into a responsible father.
