TV-Series
Description
Maya Jōga is a middle school student and classmate of Chino Kafū and Megumi Natsu. Her appearance features short, choppy dark indigo hair with a small cowlick at the center of her head, uneven bangs resting on her forehead, fair skin, gold eyes, and occasionally visible fanged teeth. She stands as the shortest character in the series. For school, she wears a white and navy sailor-style uniform, and while assisting at Rabbit House café, she borrows Rize Tedeza's uniform or wears a sky-blue variant.

Personality-wise, Maya is excitable, mischievous, and energetic, frequently pursuing goals beyond her reach while maintaining a perky mood. She openly admires Rize for her composure and quick thinking. Despite her affectionate nature toward friends, she displays bluntness in interactions. At home, she exhibits laziness, often relying on her older brother. Contradicting her sometimes foolish demeanor, she proves inquisitive and academically successful, achieving high grades. She dislikes formalities, expressing discomfort with rigid social conventions.

Her background includes childhood ballet lessons with Megumi, though she lost interest over time. She lives in the same town as the main characters and participates in school and café activities. Across the series, Maya experiences interpersonal growth: In early interactions (Season 1), she advises Chino on personal concerns like height insecurity and assists at Rabbit House, inadvertently causing Chino jealousy due to her rapport with Cocoa and Rize. She later expresses missing Cocoa during her temporary absence.

During Season 2, Maya prepares for her school's art festival, engaging in drawing and ballet rehearsals under Megumi's mother's guidance. She attends a celebratory café visit with classmates marking their grade advancement, attempting to mimic adult behavior. A significant development occurs when she follows Rize while sharing anxieties about potential separation from friends upon entering high school, prompting Rize to reassure her about enduring friendships beyond constant proximity. Later, during a school work experience program, Maya assists at Rabbit House while Megumi works elsewhere. She also participates in a treasure hunt, reminiscing with Megumi about their initial friendship with Chino.

Maya forms the "Chimame-tai" trio with Chino and Megumi, characterized by their close-knit dynamic and shared activities. She actively seeks interactions with older characters like Cocoa, Rize, Chiya, and Syaro, viewing them as role models. Academically, she distinguishes herself as the only member of her friend group to receive a scholarship recommendation for the prestigious high school attended by Rize and Syaro, reflecting her intellectual capabilities despite her playful exterior.

Trivia notes include her name's etymology, derived from "Jogmaya" tea—a variant of Darjeeling tea—aligning with the series' theme of character names based on beverages or foods.
