Youka stands as one of Nina Yamada's two closest friends. She possesses distinctive black hair styled in buns and periwinkle eyes, with a consistent fringe framing her forehead. Academically driven and serious by nature, Youka voices concerns about Nina's romantic ideals, urging her to adopt more realistic expectations about relationships instead of waiting for a "knight in shining armor." This pragmatic stance becomes ironic when the sorcerer examinees Zero and Ichii unexpectedly enter Nina's life.

Due to Zero and Ichii's constant protection of Nina after she swallows the Crystal Pearl, Youka and Hatsuka spend less time with Nina outside of school during the examination period. Despite this physical separation, their close bond endures, and they frequently inquire about Nina's evolving connections with the two sorcerers.

Youka takes on a significant role as one of the directors for the school play, handling casting responsibilities. In this capacity, she actively persuades Forte to accept the pivotal role of Snow White.

After the sorcery examination concludes, Youka and Hatsuka resume their regular outings with Nina. They offer crucial emotional support and comfort when Zero temporarily disappears following the exam. Although their interactions lessen again with the onset of the second examination, Youka remains a steadfast friend to Nina throughout these ongoing challenges.
