Description
Nico Yazawa is a third-year student at Otonokizaka High School and a member of the idol group μ's, later part of the subunit BiBi. Her image color is pink. Standing 154 cm tall, she has long black hair styled in twin tails and crimson eyes. Her family includes a mother often away working, two younger sisters named Cocoro and Cocoa, and a younger brother named Cotaro. With her father absent, the household faces financial strain, leading Nico to assume primary caretaking duties like cooking and housekeeping while her mother is occupied. This responsibility necessitates frequently cheering up her siblings, prompting her to craft an exaggerated idol persona centered on the catchphrase "Nico Nico Nii!" – a phrase originating from her father, used to elicit smiles during hardship. To sustain her siblings' admiration, Nico fabricated a story that she was μ's central member, altering posters to position herself centrally and claiming the other members were her backup dancers.

Before joining μ's, Nico founded the Idol Research Club in her first year. However, her excessively high performance standards caused all members to quit. This failure fueled her initial skepticism toward μ's, whom she viewed as inexperienced amateurs. She only reluctantly permitted them to use the clubroom after witnessing their determination and ultimately joined them, recognizing their potential to meet her ideals. Her fashion expertise led her to co-design μ's costumes with Kotori, and she contributed hairstyling for performances. Though she claimed never to cook—a lie meant to project affluence like Maki—her culinary skills became evident when she prepared meals during a group trip, demonstrating proficiency gained from managing household duties.

Nico exhibits a dual personality: naturally abrasive, competitive, and attention-seeking, contrasted by a manufactured idol persona that is upbeat and relentlessly cheerful. This dichotomy stems from her home life, where caretaking responsibilities deprived her of personal recognition, driving her pursuit of validation as an idol. She frequently boasts about her popularity and skills, proposing competitions to prove superiority, though these attempts often end in comedic dismissal by other μ's members. Envy toward Eli Ayase arises from Eli's elegance and maturity overshadowing her, while clashes with Maki Nishikino reflect their contrasting personalities, though mutual respect eventually develops. Despite self-centered tendencies, Nico deeply cares for her fellow members, confronting Honoka's decision to quit μ's to emphasize collective commitment.

Her character evolves from a solitary figure fixated on personal stardom to a collaborative member valuing group unity. During μ's final performances, including their farewell concert, she prioritizes the group's legacy over individual acclaim. Post-graduation, she mentors underclassmen, passing the Idol Research Club presidency to Hanayo and supporting the transition of new members. Spin-off media like School Idol Diary depict her ongoing mentorship and occasional revisiting of her idol persona for nostalgic or motivational purposes.
