TV-Series
Description
Nico Yazawa is a third-year student at Otonokizaka Academy and a member of the school idol group μ's, participating in the subunit BiBi. Her image color is pink, and her signature catchphrase, "Nico Nico Nii," accompanied by a distinctive pose, stems from her father using it to comfort her during childhood, though he is later out of the picture. She lives in a compact apartment with her mother and three younger siblings: sisters Cocoro and Cocoa, and brother Cotaro. With her mother working demanding hours to support the family, Nico acts as the primary caregiver, making her skilled in cooking, housekeeping, and childcare. She initially hid these responsibilities from μ's, claiming to have a personal chef.

A deep passion for idols led Nico to form the Idol Research Club in her first year, but her excessively high standards caused all members to quit, leaving her isolated and resentful, particularly toward the successful rival group A-RISE. Financial constraints prevented her from transferring to UTX Academy to join them. When Honoka Kosaka and her friends aimed to start an idol group, Nico opposed them, viewing their inexperience as an insult. She relented upon recognizing their determination, agreed to mentor them, and joined μ's as their most knowledgeable member in idol practices.

Nico's personality exhibits a duality: an abrasive, self-aggrandizing demeanor in daily life contrasted by a performatively cheerful and cute idol persona. This stems from her family circumstances; the "Nico Nico Nii" persona masks insecurities and hardships, while her desire for attention and validation arises from her caregiving role. She frequently boasts about her idol prowess and seeks the spotlight, leading to clashes with Eli Ayase, whose maturity overshadows her, and Maki Nishikino, whose tsundere nature contrasts with her assertiveness. Despite conflicts, Nico genuinely cares for her fellow members. She lied to her siblings, claiming she was μ's center and the others were backup dancers, to inspire them and maintain a facade of success.

Within μ's, Nico contributes significantly by designing costumes alongside Kotori Minami and leveraging her idol expertise to refine the group's stage presence. Her development involves gradual vulnerability; her family situation is revealed when her siblings visit during Season 2, exposing her motivations. She vehemently opposes disbanding μ's when Honoka suggests it, reflecting trauma from her past failure. Winning the Love Live competition brings profound emotional release, symbolizing her journey from isolation to acceptance. Post-graduation, she passes the Idol Research Club presidency to Hanayo and continues supporting the group's legacy in the film adaptation.

Nico has long black hair styled in twin tails, crimson eyes, and a notably petite stature of 154 cm, with measurements of bust 71 cm, waist 57 cm, and hips 79 cm. Her hobbies include fashion and hair arrangement. She dislikes spicy food and favors sweets. Her skills in cooking and household management, though initially concealed, become recurring assets during group gatherings.
