Description
Hanayo Koizumi is a first-year student at Otonokizaka High School, living with her parents and grandparents. Her childhood best friend is Rin Hoshizora. Inspired by her mother, a former idol, Hanayo harbored an early aspiration to become an idol herself, though she initially lacked the confidence to pursue it openly.

Shy, reserved, and gentle, Hanayo often avoids voicing opinions or making decisions independently. She is easily frightened and tends to conform to others' choices. However, she transforms when discussing school idols or food—especially rice and rice balls—displaying intense enthusiasm and deep knowledge. This duality defines her: quiet in most settings yet passionately expressive in specific contexts. Her love for food sometimes leads to concerns about her weight, depicted in episodes focusing on dietary struggles.

Her confidence grows significantly through involvement with the school idol group μ's. Initially hesitant to join despite her interest, she required encouragement from Rin and Maki Nishikino to publicly express her desire to become a member, marking her first major step toward self-assurance. After joining, she became integral to the subgroup Printemps alongside Honoka Kosaka and Kotori Minami. A notable physical change was her switch from glasses to contact lenses, symbolizing her gradual transformation.

As the series progresses, Hanayo takes on leadership roles, becoming president of the Idol Research Club following the third-years' graduation. She also serves as a caretaker for the school's alpacas. Her emotional growth is evident when advocating for Rin during personal struggles and expressing vulnerability, like crying during group hardships or emotional performances. The film highlights her attachment to cultural comforts, particularly her distress over the scarcity of Japanese rice during the group's New York trip.

Relationships are pivotal to her arc. Her foundational bond with Rin involves mutual support; Rin encourages her, while Hanayo helps Rin embrace femininity. Their friendship is explored through songs like "Nawatobi," conveying Hanayo's gratitude. Within μ's, she interacts with all members but shares a close dynamic with the Printemps subgroup and the first-year trio.

Physically, Hanayo has short brown hair, purple eyes, and stands 156 cm tall. Her image color is green, often reflected in merchandise. She initially wears glasses but transitions to contact lenses early on. Her hobbies include drawing, origami, and extensive research on school idols.

Across official media, Hanayo evolves from a background observer to an active participant in the idol group, balancing innate kindness with newfound assertiveness in areas she cherishes.
