Phaedrus, a Chinese dragon Bakugan of the Darkus faction, emerges in Bakugan Battle Planet seeking aid from the Awesome Ones. Her friends are trapped within a perilous zone called "The Maze," held captive by the hunter Strata and his Krakelios. After a successful rescue mission with the Awesome Ones, she forms a partnership with Lightning, joining his team alongside Howlkor.

Gentle and wise but possessing incredible strength, Phaedrus offers strategic balance to Lightning's team. She demonstrates high intuition and tactical thinking in battle. A distinctive aspect of her combat role involves Lightning riding on her back when deployed, showcasing their deep mutual respect and compatibility.

Her initial story focuses on freeing captured Bakugan from Strata's labyrinth. Following the liberation of her friends with the Awesome Ones' help, she returns them to Benton Dusk. Subsequently, several Awesome Ones members, excluding Lightning, fall into another trap within the Maze set by Strata.

In the physical Bakugan game, Phaedrus features multiple faction variants. Her Core forms include Darkus (300 B-Power), Pyrus (300 B-Power), Aquos (200 B-Power), Ventus (300 B-Power), Haos (300 B-Power), and Aurelus (100 B-Power). Ultra forms are Pyrus (700 B-Power), Aquos (400 B-Power), Ventus (400 B-Power), and Aurelus (700 B-Power). Diamond variants exist for both Core (700 B-Power) and Ultra (1800 B-Power) forms.

Evolution paths include Darkus Titan Phaedrus (1100 B-Power, evolving from Darkus Core) and Diamond Phaedrus (700 B-Power, also from Darkus Core). The Diamond Ultra variant evolves exclusively from Darkus Phaedrus Ultra. Notably, the Darkus Ultra variant remained unreleased outside its Diamond form, making Phaedrus Ultra the only Bakugan with a form exclusively available as Diamond.
