Shingo Komoi serves as a main character in the second arc of the Cardfight!! Vanguard V Series anime. Driven by extreme devotion to the Cardfight!! Vanguard game, he idolizes Aichi Sendou, fiercely protective of Aichi's ambitions. This admiration sparked after witnessing Aichi compete in the VF Circuit, turning Shingo into a dedicated fan of Team Q4. His initial actions, including appearing to stalk Kourin Tatsunagi, stemmed solely from this intense dedication, though he clarified his focus remained firmly on Aichi. Shingo possesses a judgmental nature, readily forming opinions about others' cardfighting skills. This trait surfaced when he underestimated opponents like Miwa during a match against Hitsue High, assuming Miwa's lack of fame equated to weakness, only to suffer a decisive defeat. He frequently argues, particularly with Naoki Ishida, though their contentious relationship eventually evolved into a strong friendship. During the conflict against Wandering Star Brandt, Shingo became the embodiment of Blaster Dagger, one of Monarch Sanctuary Alfred's most powerful soldiers. He later faced a significant personal crisis following a loss to Rekka Tatsunagi, which triggered his awakening of PSYqualia—a psychic ability granting precognition during cardfights. He deeply regretted this development and actively defended Aichi from other PSYqualia users known as Zombies. Ultimately, after becoming a Zombie himself, he joined the search to locate Aichi after his disappearance. Visually, Shingo is characterized by large, wiry, round glasses and brown hair styled in a bowl cut, with eyes a dark shade of umber. He typically wears the standard male uniform of Miyaji Academy High School. As a cardfighter, Shingo primarily wields a Murakumo deck centered around the Magatsu ride chain, though he occasionally experiments with other decks, notably using Narukami in Episode 114. He was a founding member of the Miyaji Academy Cardfight Club, established by Aichi to gather Vanguard enthusiasts. His club involvement included participating in events at the Miyaji Middle School Division alongside Naoki, aiming to prove his skills and gain recognition. Shingo's background includes having a younger brother in elementary school. He developed a strong interest in Cardfight!! Vanguard upon its initial release and eagerly joined the school club after its formation, seeing it as an opportunity to engage deeply with the game he loved and be near his idol, Aichi.
