Description
Metphies, a high-ranking Exif archbishop and colonel aboard the United Earth spaceship *Aratrum*, embodies his species' traits—white hair, pointed ears, and a youthful human-like appearance. With a soft-spoken, benevolent demeanor, he acts as a spiritual advisor, masking a ruthless adherence to the Exif’s nihilistic creed: life’s inherent meaninglessness justifies mutual euthanasia as mercy.

Positioning himself as confidant to Haruo Sakaki, a vengeance-driven human leader, Metphies covertly supplies classified intel on Godzilla’s vulnerabilities, enabling Haruo’s strategies. This aid serves a darker purpose: grooming Haruo to persuade humanity into sacrificing themselves to the Exif deity King Ghidorah. Metphies views civilizations as architects of their own ruin, birthing monsters like Godzilla as divine retribution for hubris. Ghidorah, he claims, harvests these fallen societies to perpetuate a cosmic cycle.

When the mission to destroy Godzilla Earth fails, Metphies warns against the Bilusaludo’s nanometal technology, urging Haruo to annihilate Mechagodzilla City under the guise of preserving human dignity. Simultaneously, he fosters a cult around Haruo, casting him as a messiah destined to lead humanity toward Ghidorah’s “salvation.” This duality—sincere admiration for Haruo’s resolve intertwined with exploitation of his hatred—cements Metphies’ role as a manipulative zealot.

Steeped in religious fatalism, he perceives suffering and annihilation as inevitable, framing Ghidorah’s arrival as a transcendent culmination. Even as Haruo resists, Metphies clings to his conviction that humanity’s submission fulfills a cosmic imperative. In defeat, he declares Ghidorah’s eternal vigilance over Haruo, underscoring his unshakable faith.

His background as a missionary witnessing planetary extinctions mirrors the Exif’s history of seeding faith while summoning Ghidorah across worlds. The name Metphies, echoing Mephistopheles, reflects his Faustian role: a deceiver shepherding souls toward apocalyptic transcendence, his compassion a veil for calculated zealotry.
