Description
Yuko Tani serves as a sergeant in the United Earth Marine Corps aboard the emigrant spaceship Aratrum. She shares a deep childhood history with Haruo Sakaki, raised and schooled together after his parents were killed by Godzilla. Both were cared for by her grandfather, Daichi Tani; his death fuels her motivation to become stronger.

Physically, Yuko possesses a slimmer, more delicate frame than her fellow crew members, characterized by brown hair, brown eyes, and a pale complexion. She harbors an undefined complex regarding her physical strength. Demonstrating notable skill and enthusiasm, she frequently engages in weapon design and modification, delving into technical discussions about equipment enhancements.

Assigned as Haruo's handler upon his release during the return mission to Earth, Yuko questions him about the unexplained explosion of a landing craft carrying elderly volunteers, including her grandfather. She suspects Central Committee involvement, while Haruo maintains belief in their integrity. On Earth, she witnesses the ruins of human civilization and encounters hostile native creatures called Servum.

As a Powered Suit team member, Yuko participates in combat against Godzilla Filius. She pilots landing crafts during engagements, witnessing significant sacrifices by commanding officers. She reacts with shock when command authority unexpectedly transfers to Haruo, but finds inspiration in his speech, saluting him first. During the final assault, she operates a Powered Suit to plant electromagnetic pulse probes into Godzilla Filius, contributing to its defeat. She survives the emergence of the vastly larger Godzilla Earth and evacuates.

Surviving Godzilla Earth's attack, Yuko joins other survivors. She contacts Haruo while under attack by a member of the indigenous Houtua tribe. Captured and subsequently released by the Houtua, she chooses to remain on Earth to continue fighting, stating she cannot live with the regret of abandoning those who sacrificed their lives. Guided by Houtua twins Miana and Maina, she explores the planet with the group.

Her technical skills lead to collaboration with Bilusaludo engineer Rilu-elu Belu-be, modifying her Powered Suit into the advanced aerial unit, the Vulture. She successfully tests the Vulture, demonstrating high system compatibility. During this period, she expresses her feelings to Haruo, citing his unwavering determination against despair as the reason she was drawn to him in space, and shares a kiss with him.

When Godzilla attacks Mechagodzilla City, Yuko volunteers to pilot the Vulture to stall the creature. During the battle, Godzilla emits intense heat, triggering the Vulture's nanometal to initiate assimilation. Resisting the fusion process causes severe neurological damage, rendering her brain-dead. She remains comatose, sustained solely by the nanometal integrated into her body.

In the aftermath, Haruo places her comatose body aboard the last functional Vulture unit. He provokes Godzilla into destroying the Vulture, eliminating both the nanometal threat and Yuko's body.
