TV-Series
Description
Last Order is the 20,001st clone of Mikoto Misaka, created as part of the Sisters Project for the Level 6 Shift Experiment. Unlike the standard clone units, she serves as the administrative core of the Misaka Network, designed to function as a final signal that can issue commands and act as a fail-safe in case the other clones go out of control or rebel. Her body was deliberately kept in an incomplete state within an incubation container for an extended period, causing her physical growth to stop and giving her an apparent age of around ten years old. She has shoulder-length brown hair with a prominent ahoge, brown eyes, and a stature of about 120 centimeters.
In terms of personality, Last Order is markedly different from her clone predecessors. While the other Sisters speak in a monotone and exhibit limited emotional expression, she demonstrates a wide range of emotions and behaves in a much more human-like manner. She is cheerful, talkative, and often mischievous, frequently ending her sentences with a verbal tic similar to saying something like Misaka says this, says Misaka. She shows shyness and embarrassment, such as when Accelerator sees her naked, and she displays typically girlish behaviors like caring for her hair and skin and using toy lip gloss. Despite her childlike innocence, she is perceptive and possesses a sharp wit, often teasing Accelerator to lighten his mood.
Her primary motivation is the desire for connection, stability, and the safety of her Sisters. She deeply admires Accelerator, who risked his life to save her, and she places immense trust in him. She views him as a protector and an important figure in her life, and her presence serves as an emotional anchor for him, preventing him from losing control. She also feels gratitude toward Kamijou Touma for his role in saving her and the Sisters.
Within the story of A Certain Scientific Accelerator, Last Order is the central figure whose safety drives the plot. Her role is largely that of a protected person, as she is a target for various organizations seeking to exploit the Misaka Network. The Disciplinary Action group, a radical splinter faction within Anti-Skill, plots to use her for a dangerous mission, and much of the conflict revolves around Accelerator and his ally Esther Rosenthal defending her. She herself is not a combatant, but her existence forces Accelerator to engage with the world and act as a protector, transitioning from a villainous past into an anti-heroic role. Her function as the administrator of the Misaka Network also makes her a key component in certain experiments and plans, such as the manifestation of Hughes Kazakiri.
Her key relationships are centered around her guardians and protectors. Her bond with Accelerator is the most significant; he serves as her primary protector and surrogate parental figure, and she trusts him implicitly. She lives with Accelerator in the apartment of Aiho Yomikawa, an Anti-Skill officer who acts as a surrogate mother figure, and is also cared for by Kikyou Yoshikawa. She shares a close friendship with Esther Rosenthal, who vows to protect her, and she maintains a bond with her clone sisters, particularly Misaka 10032. Her relationship with Misaka Worst is more complex, as Worst serves both as a protector and a reminder of the darker path her sisters could take.
Throughout the series, Last Order develops from a fragile clone kept in an incubation container into a more independent individual who begins to understand her own autonomy and emotional complexity. She bravely confronts challenges to protect her Sisters and increasingly demonstrates agency, such as when she approaches a rampaging Accelerator to calm him down.
Her notable ability is Radio Noise, the same electromagnetic manipulation power shared by all the Misaka clones, though her level is classified at Level 3. She cannot see electromagnetic field lines with the naked eye, so she relies on special goggles like the other Sisters. Her unique function is her role as the administrator of the Misaka Network, which allows her to monitor, communicate with, and issue commands to all other Misaka clones through telepathic links. This ability also enables her to supplement Accelerator's compromised calculating power via a choker-style electrode, allowing him to function after the brain injury he sustained during the Sisters Incident.
