TV-Series
Description
Aiho Yomikawa is a physical education teacher at an Academy City high school and a lieutenant in Anti-Skill Branch 73, the city’s law enforcement. She has a tall, athletic build standing 175 centimeters, with dark blue hair typically tied in a waist-length ponytail and teal eyes. She often wears a green tracksuit for teaching and Anti-Skill tactical gear with combat armor and an SG-550 assault rifle for operations. Her defining principle is a refusal to aim weapons at children, regardless of their actions or threat level, stemming from a past traumatic incident where she drew a weapon on a child and the child died. Instead of conventional firearms, she uses protective gear like riot shields or helmets as blunt weapons to subdue delinquents or rogue espers, earning her the informal title of the woman who uses comedy-like methods to solve problems that could end in tragedy. She possesses formal military training in firearms, hand-to-hand combat, and powered suit piloting, and has demonstrated physical strength capable of cracking concrete walls.

Her personality blends kindness with stern professionalism. She is deeply committed to child welfare and extends her protective stance to all Academy City esper students. Despite this gentleness, she employs rigorous training methods and harshly disciplines her junior officer for patrol lapses. Off duty, she is cheerful and carefree, enjoying public baths, meals, and beer with colleagues such as Tsukuyomi Komoe and Kikyou Yoshikawa, often drinking to excess and teasing Komoe about her childlike stature. She exhibits a relaxed attitude toward nudity around teenagers, viewing them as children. Stress triggers intense cleaning sprees that sometimes lead to recklessness.

Yomikawa has a longstanding friendship with Kikyou Yoshikawa, who entrusts her with child care during emergencies. She once attempted the Anti-Skill entrance exam alongside the Tokiwadai Dorm Supervisor; both failed after assaulting instructors, though she later apologized and secured membership. Prior to the series, her Anti-Skill unit dismantled the Special Ability Institute where Accelerator resided until age nine. She lives in a faculty condominium and becomes the legal guardian for Accelerator, Last Order, and Misaka Worst, providing them shelter and care.

Her chronological involvement includes first appearing during the Kazakiri Hyouka Arc, coordinating Anti-Skill against Sherry Cromwell’s golem and aiding Kamijou Touma despite severe injuries. In the Tree Diagram Remnant Arc, she guards Accelerator and Last Order during their bath and assaults an external group targeting remnants. During the Daihasei Festival, she performs peacekeeping duties and socializes with Komoe. In the Academy City Invasion Arc, she shelters Accelerator and Last Order, helps Accelerator locate a missing Last Order using Anti-Skill resources, challenges his self-perception as irredeemable, and later collapses due to Vento of the Front’s Divine Punishment. In the Necromancer Arc of A Certain Scientific Accelerator, she refuses orders to fire on student assailants armed with an experimental water cutter, reinforcing her vow to protect children.
