Description
Maruyama Aya energizes as the lead vocalist and leader of the idol band Pastel*Palettes. A first-year student at Yotsuba Women's University, she previously attended Hanasakigawa Girls' High School, advancing from second to third year. Her childhood dream of becoming an idol ignited after witnessing Ayumi, the lead of Marmalade. Before joining Pastel*Palettes, she endured three years as a probationary idol without a major breakthrough.

Aya's pastel pink hair cascades with wavy ends, complementing her large pink eyes and fair skin. She typically wears her hair loose but switches to pigtails for performances. Her feminine, soft-colored wardrobe features floral patterns and jewelry, shifting with the seasons: a frilly white dress with pink florals for casual days; an off-shoulder white sweater, miniskirt, and thigh-high boots in winter; and a striped summer dress with lace accents.

Outwardly cheerful, high-spirited, and bubbly, Aya radiates unselfish kindness. Inwardly, she battles sensitivity and a craving for recognition, often scanning online opinions about herself. This vulnerability triggers stage fright, improvisational struggles during MC segments, and overwhelmed tears. She strives to project reliability as a senpai to Toyama Kasumi of Poppin'Party but often feels inadequate.

Driven by determination, Aya relentlessly practices idol poses and perfects selfies, always carrying a selfie stick. She works part-time at a fast-food restaurant alongside Matsubara Kanon, for whom she crafts detailed job manuals. Aya defines idols as figures who help others achieve dreams, exemplified by her persistence in distributing concert tickets in the rain despite low initial turnout.

Through band activities, Aya builds confidence gradually. Early challenges included freezing during live shows and anxiety over public perception. Over time, she channels her passion more effectively with bandmate support. After a joint magic performance with Kasumi at a New Year's event, she secretly enrolls in magic classes due to positive audience feedback. Her bond within Pastel*Palettes deepens, especially with Shirasagi Chisato; their relationship evolves from professional detachment to mutual trust through shared experiences.

Aya shares a close bond with her younger sister. Her hobbies include updating her blog, taking selfies, and creating social media content. She dislikes horror and octopus, favoring hamburger steak and omelet rice. Academically, she struggles with math and Japanese, occasionally finding the latter incomprehensible. Spring remains her favorite season.
