Description
Ai Shindō, a petite cat youmu, frequently adopts the form of a human girl with mid-back-length wavy brown hair, short bangs, and striking blue eyes. Her youmu manifestation presents as a two-tailed Scottish Fold cat, tails tipped in white. Residing with her older sister Ayaka, she aids in household tasks and models for Ayaka’s photography studio. Her human guise features a round, innocent face, a soft voice, and a wardrobe dominated by a dark blue sailor uniform, occasionally swapped for traditional wear like a yellow kimono during festivals.

Radiating cheerfulness and excitability, Ai’s emotional sensitivity occasionally overwhelms her, triggering a reversion to her feline form. She exudes warmth and gentleness, proactively soothing tensions and uplifting those around her. While embracing her youmu heritage, she navigates human society as a second-year student at Nagatsuki City High School.

Notable events include spearheading an idol group to divert a fruit-type youmu—a plan that spiraled when the group was drenched in the creature’s defensive scent. During The Calm phenomenon, lethargy left her vulnerable to Akihito Kanbara’s youmu instincts until Ayaka intervened. Both sisters later merged with the colossal youmu Beyond the Boundary, collaborating with Akihito and Mirai Kuriyama to dismantle internal threats.

In *Mirai-hen*, Ai showcases innate athleticism during tennis club tryouts despite inexperience, bonding with Sakura Inami through school routines, train track crossings, and group photo sessions. The spin-off *Idol Trial* casts her as a super-deformed idol judge, balancing bubbly charm with incisive critiques, mirroring her fascination with idol culture.

Her abilities encompass shape-shifting, athletic agility, and melodic vocals. Ayaka’s protective presence anchors their bond, while Ai maintains friendly ties with Akihito, Mirai, and the Nase siblings. Rooted in youmu lineage, her narrative underscores adaptability and resilience in harmonizing supernatural origins with everyday life.
