Shishimaru Tenoh, a ninja of mixed human and extraterrestrial descent born to Sayo Momochi and an alien, trained within the Iga clan. He displayed exceptional talent early on. The brutal slaughter of his entire team by the immortal cyborg Ginnai Doma, which claimed his lover Oyu, ignited a consuming quest for vengeance against Ginnai and his master Oda Nobunaga. This trauma hardened Shishimaru. Fueled by rage and grief, he relentlessly pursued Ginnai, resorting to tactics like drug-induced hallucinations. These clashes typically ended in defeat and further loss, including the death of his mentor Yurimaru. A critical battle cost Shishimaru his arm, though he seized Ginnai's katana and miraculously survived a subsequent nuclear explosion. The Black Lions organization rescued and healed him, fitting him with a cybernetic prosthetic arm. This alliance marked a pivotal shift. Integrating into the Black Lions, Shishimaru evolved from a solitary avenger into a cooperative operative confronting larger existential threats. His mission broadened beyond personal revenge to fighting the interdimensional White Devils, entities manipulating figures like Nobunaga and deploying advanced technology to annihilate all sentient life. He battled resurrected cyborg adversaries across time, including conflicts in the 23rd century. His final confrontation with Ginnai occurred during the assault on the White Devils' base, seemingly destroying the cyborg's body. However, Shishimaru alone witnessed Ginnai's surviving head swear revenge. After Nobunaga's defeat, Shishimaru departed Earth with the Black Lions and his ally Yuki Hayabusa, committing to an ongoing campaign against the White Devils across the universe. This concluded his manga arc, though the anime adaptation ended ambiguously without depicting these later events. Throughout, Shishimaru transformed from a revenge-obsessed warrior into a strategic participant in a broader conflict, ultimately dedicating himself to protecting multiple timelines from annihilation. His hybrid nature, cybernetic augmentation, and acceptance of teamwork underscored this progression beyond his initial vendetta.
