Description
Hayate Yagami, an orphan confined to a wheelchair, is initially unaware she is the master of the sentient artifact, the Book of Darkness. The Wolkenritter—Signum, Vita, Shamal, and Zafira—act as her protectors while secretly harvesting magical Linker Cores to fill the Book's pages, believing this will cure her degenerative condition. Hayate explicitly forbids harming others for her sake and treats the Wolkenritter as family. Upon discovering their actions and the Book's completion triggering a lethal defense program, she reclaims control, purges the corruption, and revives her knights. The original Unison Device, Reinforce, sacrifices herself to eliminate the threat; Hayate subsequently creates Reinforce Zwei as her successor and redesigns the Book into the Tome of the Night Sky.
Following this incident, Hayate undergoes rehabilitation to walk again and joins the Time-Space Administration Bureau (TSAB) as a Special Investigator cadet. Her merged Linker Core with the Book grants immense power, earning an initial S-rank classification later rising to the TSAB's highest SS-rank; however, her spells require lengthy incantations, limiting direct combat effectiveness. She adopts Ancient Belka magic systems, utilizing multiple Devices: the Tome of the Night Sky for spell storage, Schwertkreuz for armed combat, and Reinforce Zwei for Unison-based augmentation. Her signature spells include wide-area attacks like *Diabolic Emission* (a collapsing dark energy sphere), *Heimdall* (iceberg summoning), and *Ragnarok* (triple-beam bombardment).
In *StrikerS*, Hayate commands Riot Force 6 (RF6), a TSAB Ground Forces unit investigating Lost Logia-related incidents. She recruits Nanoha Takamachi and Fate Testarossa as instructors and integrates the Wolkenritter into the team. Her leadership during the Jail Scaglietti incident—culminating in the destruction of the Saint's Cradle warship—earns her widespread recognition and the nickname "Living Lost Logia." After RF6 disbands, she transfers to the Dimensional Navy's Marine Defense Force as an Investigation Commander.
