Description
Sakura Inami is the younger sister of Yui Inami and a member of the Inami family, which adopted Mirai Kuriyama after the persecution of her cursed bloodline. Following Yui’s death at Mirai’s hands to stop her possession by the Hollow Shadow, Sakura initially seeks vengeance against Mirai, transferring to Nagatsuki City to confront her. Her early behavior is marked by a flat speech pattern, emotionless expressions, and a singular focus on retribution, driven by grief and a desire to prove herself as a Spirit World Warrior despite lacking innate supernatural abilities.
Sakura has shoulder-length brown hair styled in odango buns and red-pink eyes. Her clothing shifts from a militaristic yellow jacket with a striped shirt to more casual homewear after reconciling with Mirai. Her school attire consists of a loosely draped sweater over a sailor uniform, reflecting her indifferent outward demeanor. A turning point occurs when her weapon, a spear capable of absorbing Youmu essence, malfunctions during a confrontation, prompting Mirai to protect her. This incident leads to their reconciliation, after which Sakura moves into Mirai’s apartment and adopts a more composed, protective role.
Her relationship with Mirai develops into a sisterly bond, characterized by deadpan humor and subtle gestures of care, such as physically nudging Mirai to address emotional avoidance. Sakura’s backstory reveals childhood envy toward Yui and Mirai’s spiritual abilities, contrasting with Yui’s own envy of Sakura’s normalcy. This mutual longing for connection forms the basis of her eventual forgiveness, as she recognizes Mirai’s guilt and their shared trauma.
One year after the main events, Sakura lives with an amnesiac Mirai, honoring Akihito Kanbara’s request to shield her from past memories. She pretends to dislike Akihito to discourage Mirai’s curiosity, though privately struggles with Mirai’s confusion and lingering pull toward her forgotten life. Sakura actively defends Mirai from shadow Youmu attacks, working alongside Hiroomi Nase and others to investigate supernatural threats while maintaining an appearance of normalcy. Her protective nature leads her to confront impostors posing as Akihito and engage in battles against regenerating shadow entities tied to Izumi Nase’s corruption.
Sakura’s abilities are limited to her borrowed spear’s Youmu-absorbing properties, a weapon that initially enhanced her combat skills but nearly consumed her before Mirai’s intervention. After reconciling, her role shifts from active combatant to emotional support, emphasizing resilience through everyday routines like school and household responsibilities, even as supernatural conflicts persist. Her story concludes with a semblance of normalcy, participating in tennis club activities and social gatherings while remaining watchful over Mirai’s fragile stability.
