Description
Dalton served as a guard under King Wapol of Drum Island but opposed the king's cruelty toward subjects. Witnessing the rebellious doctor Hiriluk’s self-sacrifice and hearing his speech about legacy profoundly moved Dalton, inspiring him to rebel against Wapol’s tyranny. His defiance led to imprisonment, where he endured mockery from Wapol and subordinates Chess and Kuromarimo. After Blackbeard’s invasion prompted Wapol to abandon the island, Dalton assumed leadership to prevent chaos, earning the people’s trust.

When the Straw Hat Pirates arrived seeking medical aid for Nami, Dalton initially mistook them for threats but later guided them to Dr. Kureha, warning of hazards like Lapahns. Upon Wapol’s return to reclaim his throne, Dalton confronted him in his bison hybrid form. While shielding villagers from Chess’s arrows, he sustained grave injuries. An ensuing avalanche threatened him, but he survived through intervention from the Isshi-20 doctors and Zoro. Dalton planned to destroy Drum Castle to stop Wapol, though Luffy’s defeat of the king rendered this unnecessary.

The people elected Dalton ruler of the reestablished Sakura Kingdom—named after Hiriluk’s cherry blossoms. As king, he chose modest village life over the castle, maintaining hands-on leadership. He periodically shared updates with Dr. Kureha, such as the Straw Hats’ bounties. Years later, at the Levely in Mary Geoise, he protected Vivi from Wapol’s harassment and conversed with allies like Rebecca about Luffy, aligning with the Neptune Family during an incident involving Donquixote Mjosgard and Charlos.

Dalton possesses the Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Bison, a Zoan-type Devil Fruit granting full bison or minotaur-like hybrid transformations. His hybrid form amplifies speed and strength, enabling rapid sword techniques like Fiddle Banff. He wields a large spade-shaped polearm. His combat prowess, resilience, and leadership were demonstrated during his rebellion and defense of Drum Island’s citizens.

He maintains respectful ties with key figures: tolerating Dr. Kureha’s abrasive demeanor and acknowledging Tony Tony Chopper’s past defiance against Wapol, which he protected. Dalton’s commitment to his people and humble governance cemented his role as the Sakura Kingdom’s foundational leader.
