Benimaru Shinmon, adopted as an orphan by Hibachi Shinmon to inherit his legacy, endured rigorous training in Iai Shutō martial arts. Hibachi frequently criticized Benimaru's struggles with the Sun Wheel technique, attributing failures to his pupil's self-doubt, while Konro Sagamiya mediated these clashes as tough-love guidance. Even in childhood, Benimaru aided firefighters against Infernals in Asakusa.
He possesses fair skin, neck-length wavy black hair, and striking heterochromatic eyes: his right pupil displays a red circle with a black dot, while his left has a red iris and white X-shaped pupil. His attire combines a white t-shirt under a black vest, Special Fire Force trousers, and black boots, often draped with a gray or dark-blue kimono over his left arm. Off-duty, he favors black hakama or simplified uniforms.
Temperamental and fiercely independent, Benimaru operates solo or exclusively with his Asakusa brigade, openly defying external authorities like the Tokyo Emperor. Though blunt to the point of rudeness, Asakusa's citizens revere him as a benevolent protector, overlooking property damage from his battles. His devotion manifests violently when loved ones are threatened—exemplified by his rage upon falsely hearing of Kantarō’s death. Typically calm in missions, his combat turns reckless when angered. Initially resistant to leadership, he embraced the role after subordinates’ encouragement.
Renowned as the Special Fire Force’s strongest officer and "Asakusa’s King of Destruction," Benimaru is a rare hybrid Second/Third Generation pyrokinetic. He generates and manipulates flames externally, mastering all combat ranges: launching projectiles, redirecting heat/gunfire, augmenting martial arts, and nullifying pyrokinetic attacks. Signature techniques include Iai Hand-Sword flame blades, the explosive Crimson Moon, and heat-negation barriers. He wields matoi flags for aerial maneuvers and flame redirection.
His physical prowess features hypersonic speed (outpacing Shinra Kusakabe’s Rapid technique), overwhelming strength against multiple foes, and extreme durability against Demon Infernals or Charon’s assaults. He permanently unlocked Hysterical Strength during training and survived a lethal poison dose through unexplained resilience.
As Company 7’s captain, Benimaru prioritized Asakusa’s Infernal threats over broader mandates. He mentored Shinra Kusakabe and Arthur Boyle in unlocking Hysterical Strength. Against the White-Clad, he neutralized Pillars Haumea and Inca by suppressing their flames, defeated Charon, and surpassed his master by creating "Crimson Moon’s Sun Wheel" against Hibachi’s doppelgänger. He later effortlessly destroyed his own planet-threatening doppelgänger. His intense battles sometimes warped reality, drawing the Adolla dimension closer.
Benimaru later joined the World Heroes Force, combating global threats while remaining Asakusa’s steadfast guardian.
