Description
Lorenzo is the curator of Alto Mare’s museum and a gondola builder, roles that anchor his duty as a guardian of the city’s concealed history. As Bianca’s grandfather, he upholds a family legacy of safeguarding the Legendary Pokémon Latios and Latias, the Soul Dew, and the Defense Mechanism of Alto Mare (DMA). This responsibility traces back to a past tragedy where Latios’s father sacrificed himself to repel an ancient threat, embedding his essence into the Soul Dew to eternally protect the city.
Having raised the orphaned Latios and Latias within the secluded Secret Garden—accessed through his workshop—Lorenzo enforces unwavering vigilance over the Soul Dew. He reprimands Ash for accidentally activating the DMA and intercepts Latios’s defensive strike against Ash and Pikachu during their unauthorized garden entry.
When antagonists Annie and her Espeon incapacitate him, Lorenzo later aids in foiling their scheme to exploit the DMA. He cautions Annie against manipulating the corrupted Soul Dew, a warning she disregards, triggering a devastating tidal wave. Following Latios’s sacrificial intervention to subdue the disaster, Lorenzo receives the newly formed Soul Dew born from Latios’s essence, shared with Bianca to continue their lineage’s guardianship.
After the crisis, Lorenzo supervises DMA repairs and bids farewell to departing allies. His workshop mirrors Venetian gondola craftsmanship, rooted in cultural traditions that mirror Alto Mare’s Venetian-inspired identity. Though familial bonds with Bianca center on their shared obligations, the narrative omits specifics on other relatives.
Lorenzo’s character merges austere discipline with empathetic dedication, harmonizing historical stewardship with proactive defense. His choices reflect an unyielding pledge to preserve Alto Mare’s heritage, securing his family’s enduring role as protectors of its sacred artifacts and Pokémon allies.
