Eric Stuart
Description
Eric Stuart is an American voice actor, voice director, and musician known for his extensive work in English dubs of anime, particularly for 4Kids Entertainment, NYAV Post, and Central Park Media. He began his voice acting career in the mid-1990s and became a prominent figure in the industry for over a decade. He is also the lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist for his rock band, the Eric Stuart Band.
Stuart is perhaps best known for his long-running roles in the Pokémon anime series. From seasons one through eight, he provided the voices of both Brock, the Pewter City Gym Leader and friendly mentor, and James, the flamboyant member of the villainous Team Rocket trio. He voiced these characters in the main television series, as well as in numerous Pokémon films, including Pokémon: The First Movie, Pokémon 4Ever, Pokémon Heroes, and Pokémon: Jirachi Wish Maker. In addition to these signature roles, he also voiced other characters in the franchise such as the Pokémon Squirtle in various projects like Pocket Monsters: Pikachu no Fuyuyasumi, and Geodude in Pocket Monsters: Pikachu no Fuyuyasumi 2000.
Concurrently with his work on Pokémon, Stuart voiced another iconic anime character, Seto Kaiba, in the English adaptation of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. He reprised this role for the Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light and later returned to it for the 2017 film, Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions. His involvement with the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise extended to other series, where he voiced Bastion Misawa in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and took on various roles in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's and Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal.
Beyond these two major franchises, Stuart's career includes a wide array of other notable roles. He voiced the heroic swordsman Gourry Gabriev in the Slayers series and the enigmatic Meta Knight in Kirby: Right Back At Ya!. He took on the role of the narrator and Gold Roger in the 4Kids dub of One Piece, played Dik Dik Van Dik in Ultimate Muscle, and voiced Dr. Z in Dinosaur King. His filmography also includes the roles of Yutaka Watari in Descendants of Darkness, Galan in Labyrinth of Flames, Marco in Shaman King, and Rockney in Tama and Friends.
