Description
In the anime *Great Guardians*, Sonken Chuubou arrives at Nanyo Academy claiming to be Hakufu Sonsaku's younger sister—a relation previously unknown to Hakufu. She presents a gentle, scholarly demeanor, often quoting historical texts like Sun Tzu, and excels in domestic tasks such as cooking. Initially reserved, she exhibits frequent shyness and blushing, particularly around Koukin Shuuyu. Her true identity is later revealed as Shoukyou (Xiao Qiao), who journeyed to Kanto to observe Koukin, her prophesied husband from Three Kingdoms lore. Upon realizing Koukin's feelings for Hakufu, she confesses her deception and apologizes. Hakufu and Koukin reaffirm their familial bond with her. She aids in rescuing brainwashed allies and departs with Saji Genpou after the conflict.
In the manga sequel *Shin Ikki Tousen*, she is unambiguously Hakufu Sonsaku's biological sister through their father, Bundai Sonken. As a new Nanyo Academy student, Ukitsu grants her Sun Quan's magatama, awakening a water dragon—a signature trait of the Sun lineage. During a Kansai assault on the school, she witnesses Roshuku Shikei's hands severed and Ukitsu nearly fatally wounded. This trauma triggers her dragon's uncontrollable release, unleashing a counterattack that overwhelms the invaders until halted by allied Toushi. Her latent power designates her a potential S-rank fighter and successor to Nanyo's Big Four.
These portrayals reflect distinct narrative paths: the anime explores romantic and familial themes within an original storyline, while the manga establishes her as a combatant inheriting her lineage's legacy.
