Description
Manami Kinjō is Kio Kakazu's childhood friend and next-door neighbor, their bond stretching back to their earliest years. Her family history involves a grandfather linked to postwar US arms supply operations in Vietnam, establishing the Kinjō family's CIA connection, now solely maintained by her immediate household. This legacy drives her lifelong ambition to join the CIA, evident in her room packed with surveillance gear and firearms – though many are airsoft replicas due to her provisional trainee status. She operates under CIA supervisor JACK within a recruitment program. Her involvement in rescuing the alien Eris results in disqualification, leading her to reside under diplomatic immunity at the Catian Embassy.

Her personality combines tomboyish aggression, loudmouthed intensity, and emotional volatility. She holds an intense fascination with firearms, earning her the label "gun otaku" from Kio. A scratched watch gifted by Kio symbolizes her unspoken romantic feelings; she habitually rubs the scratch when nervous, especially concerning matters involving him. Convinced Kio sees her as "one of the guys" and that she missed her romantic chance, she channels frustration into aggressively encouraging Aoi Futaba's relationship with Kio, aiming to prevent Eris from "stealing" him. This culminates in a confrontation where Aoi accuses her of cowardice for hiding her feelings.

Physically, she stands 159 cm (5'3") tall, weighs 50 kg (110 lbs), possesses fair skin, brown eyes, and short brown hair. Her measurements are B80-W55-H82 cm (31"-22"-32"). She typically wears her school uniform with skirts but dons tactical gear, including a face-concealing mask, during operations.

Her narrative arc involves significant developments. Early on, she participates in Eris's capture for the CIA, identifiable by her distinctive watch, which Kio recognizes. Guilt over this betrayal motivates her to aid Kio and Aoi in infiltrating a military base to rescue Eris, an act costing her CIA candidacy. Later, residing at the embassy, her suppressed jealousy erupts when Eris proposes polyamory under Catian law. In the series finale, she confesses her love to Kio, blaming Eris for "stealing" him, before joining Eris and Aoi in kissing him, accepting the polyamorous arrangement.

Her relationships are defined by loyalty and conflict. She maintains a close yet combative bond with Kio, frequently teasing or physically confronting him. While envious of Eris's closeness to Kio, she genuinely likes Eris personally. Her partnership with Aoi evolves from tactical coaching in espionage to mutual emotional support, despite their initial conflict over romantic strategies.
