Description
Sougen Takamine holds the position of contracted monk in the Kōgon Sect, a group specialized in neutralizing rogue undead called Shikabane. He supervises the sect district managed by Keisei Tagami, his former protégé and surrogate son, their bond deepened by shared history and Keisei’s upbringing under Makina Hoshimura’s care. As a Sojo leader among six, Sougen acts as a steadfast mediator between sect factions, countering the Shōhōs faction’s aggressive policies toward Shikabane Hime by advocating diplomacy. This philosophy manifests in his resistance to executing Makina during her descent into rogue behavior, prioritizing containment and dialogue over lethal force.

Tasked with protecting the sect’s central temple, he collaborates closely with Kamika Todoroki, his contracted Shikabane Hime and the most formidable of her kind. Unlike peers who engage directly in combat, Sougen’s responsibilities lean toward strategic administration and defense, emphasizing oversight rather than battlefield participation. His strict adherence to protocol is demonstrated through rejection of unsanctioned operations, even when addressing internal dissent, balancing organizational loyalty with pragmatic governance.

Consistently portrayed as a stabilizing pillar of the Kōgon Sect, Sougen upholds structural order and measured conflict resolution, reinforcing his role as an authority figure committed to maintaining equilibrium amid undead-related crises.
