Description
Hokuto is the true leader of the Shichisei (Seven Stars), a group of powerful shikabanes. Born without regrets, obsessions, or inherent "nature," her existence is purely defined by death itself. This absence of humanity makes her exceptionally dangerous and powerful among shikabanes.
Raised from birth as a human sacrifice, Hokuto experienced no emotions—neither grief, pain, sadness, nor happiness—in life. Immediately after her ritual killing, she reanimated as a shikabane and initiated an indiscriminate slaughter of everyone present. Her appearance resembles a girl aged 15-16, with white hair and heterochromatic eyes: her right eye is black with a red pupil, her left eye red with a black pupil. She typically wears a white and red kimono.
Her history intertwines with Makina Hoshimura, as both share blood relations through the Hoshimura family. Sacrificed by Makina's ancestors, Hokuto harbors enmity and repeatedly identifies Makina as "my enemy." During the conflict with the Kōgon Sect, Hokuto operates under Hazama, the de facto leader of the Seven Stars, though her power exceeds his. As the Shichisei near defeat, Hazama and Hokuto retreat to an abandoned complex, pursued by Makina and Ouri Kagami.
The rogue monk Akasha then attempts to use Hokuto in a ritual to resurrect his deceased fiancée. He contracts with her, transforming her into a Shikabane Hime. However, Akasha immediately rejects her upon his fiancée's revival, prioritizing his love for the resurrected human. In response, Hokuto kills Akasha and reverts to a feral shikabane state. The series concludes with Hokuto locked in an unresolved battle against Makina, who vows to make Hokuto "remember what it means to be dead and alive."
