Description
Konoka Konoe attends Mahora Academy's Class 2/3-A, sharing living quarters with classmate Asuna Kagurazaka and their homeroom teacher, Negi Springfield. Her family wields considerable power in magical circles: her grandfather Konoemon Konoe is Mahora Academy's dean, and her father Eishun Konoe leads the Kansai Magic Association, having previously belonged to Nagi Springfield's Ala Rubra. This magical heritage remained hidden from Konoka until a trip to Kyoto triggered her latent abilities.
Cheerful, nurturing, and somewhat naive, Konoka often mediates within her household, supporting Negi while maintaining a close bond with Asuna. Academically capable but modest, she participates in the Fortune-Telling Club (where she serves as president) and the Library Exploration Club. Her interests encompass fortune-telling, the supernatural, and cooking. Her grandfather occasionally arranges political omiai meetings for her, which she tolerates without pursuing.
Her deepest connection is with Setsuna Sakurazaki, her classmate and self-appointed guardian. Their childhood bond from Kyoto fractured after an incident where Setsuna blamed herself for failing to protect Konoka, creating distance. This rift healed during the Kyoto trip when Konoka unknowingly used her magic to heal Setsuna in battle, revealing her potential to enemies and leading to her capture by mages attempting to awaken a demon. To rescue a petrified Negi during this conflict, Konoka formed a Pactio contract with him via a direct kiss, becoming his fourth partner and fully awakening her magic.
Her Pactio artifact, "Regina Medicans" (Regal Healer), manifests as an Onmyōji outfit with two fans: Flabellum Euri (Fan of the Northern Wind) and Flabellum Australe (Fan of the Southern Wind). This grants potent healing, capable of repairing injuries sustained within the previous three minutes. Using this power at maximum capacity, such as reviving near-fatal wounds, causes her soul to temporarily leave her body, severely draining her and requiring recovery time. Overuse can also induce magical sickness in patients. She trains under Negi and Evangeline McDowell to master basic spells and healing incantations independently of the artifact, eventually advancing to telekinesis and healing dragons once daily.
Later, she openly healed combatants during the Mahora Festival's "Mage vs. Martian" battle. She journeyed to the Magic World (Mundus Magicus) with Negi's group, Ala Alba. Their arrival triggered an ambush that scattered the team, leading Konoka to travel with Kaede Nagase before reuniting with Setsuna and Asuna. She later formed her own Pactio as a Magistra Magi with Setsuna as her Ministra Magi. In the series epilogue, she mastered healing magic sufficiently to reverse petrification curses, notably curing Negi's Welsh village. She married Setsuna Sakurazaki in 2017.
