Misora Kasuga is a student in Class 2/3-A of Mahora Academy and a dedicated member of its track and field club, where she nurtures a fierce competitive streak, especially in sprinting against Asuna Kagurazaka. She is frequently found doing chores at a local church and is often seen in a crucifix or a nun's habit, earning her the alias Joculatrix Monachans, or the Amused Nun. Her approach to these religious duties, however, is notably casual, treated more like a part-time job than a spiritual calling. Her background identifies her as a human mage-in-training and a Ministra Magi, studying magic under Sister Shakti, though this path was chosen more from parental expectation than personal desire. Misora is hyperactive and tomboyish, yet also surprisingly lazy, showing a clear preference for relaxation over the rigors of magical missions—a habit that regularly draws reprimands from her teacher. She possesses a mischievous spirit, delighting in practical jokes and gossip, and is usually accompanied by her fellow nun-in-training, Cocone, who often tries to temper her impulsiveness. As a mage, Misora wields only basic magical abilities, such as simple illusion spells, with her progress hampered by a tendency to slack off. Her primary magical strength comes from a Pactio contract with Cocone Fatima Rosa, which grants her the artifact Joculatrix Monachans—a pair of sneakers that bestow superhuman running speed, the ability to scale walls and run on water, though she insists they are only useful for evasion, lacking any combat application. During the Mahora festival, Misora is assigned to investigate Chao Lingshen’s plot to expose magic to the world. Together with Cocone, she uncovers Chao’s hidden robot army beneath the World Tree. In the course of this mission, her magical identity is accidentally revealed to Asuna, though Misora attempts to deny it despite overwhelming evidence. She uses her artifact to help Asuna and Setsuna Sakurazaki escape a battle and aids Negi Springfield in bypassing robotic defenses. She takes part in the final festival battle, where Cocone sacrifices herself to shield Misora from time displacement bullets, though the two are later reunited. After the festival, while pretending to be a priest at the church, Misora overhears confessions from Negi and several classmates about their personal troubles, an act for which she receives divine punishment from Sister Shakti. She later travels to the Magic World, Mundus Magicus, alongside other mages-in-training, intending to visit Cocone’s hometown, though their plans are disrupted by damaged interworld portals. She reunites with Asuna during Negi’s battle against Jack Rakan and attends the Governor’s Ball in the Magic World. When Cosmo Entelecheia attacks the event, she, being human, retains her ability to use magic and escapes with Mana Tatsumiya’s help after an encounter with Shiori/Luna disguised as Asuna. She accompanies her classmates to the Ostia ruins, still denying her magical identity even though it is universally known. In the spin-off *UQ Holder!*, a descendant named Mikan Kasuga is introduced, working as a nun in the Tokyo Slums. Physically, Misora stands 162 cm tall and weighs 71 kg. She has ash brown or orange hair and brown or green eyes, though official colorings have occasionally shown her with gray hair. Her three measurements are bust 78 cm, waist 57 cm, and hips 78 cm.
