Description
Shun d'Andromède serves as a Bronze Saint protecting Athena's reincarnation. He is the younger brother of Phoenix Ikki, another Bronze Saint. His constellation, Andromeda—a feminine figure in Greek myth—shapes his delicate appearance. Recognized for his striking handsomeness, female spectators at the Galaxian Wars commented on his beauty. His manga depiction features brown hair with reddish tones and blue eyes, while the anime gives him green eyes for color balance. When possessed by Hades, his manga hair turns black and his anime hair reddish, accompanied by paler skin.

Pacifism, gentleness, and a deep aversion to violence define his personality. Possessing the purest soul of his era, he becomes Hades' chosen vessel. This purity drives his willingness for self-sacrifice and belief in resolving conflict without bloodshed. Yet, when compelled to fight, he transforms into a highly skilled and lethal combatant, defeating formidable foes like Gold Saint Pisces Aphrodite using his Nebula Storm technique. He achieves the God Cloth second among the Bronze Saints.

As a child, he avoided conflict and depended on Ikki for safety. He was among the orphans Mitsumasa Kido gathered for Saint training. Originally assigned to Queen Death Island, Ikki took his place, so Shun trained on Andromeda Island under Cepheus Daidalos (manga) or Albiore (anime). There, he befriended June, the future Chameleon Saint. His final trial, the "Sacrifice of Andromeda," required him to escape chains before drowning by focusing on his bond with Ikki, not brute force; succeeding earned him the Andromeda Cloth.

During the Hades Chapter - Sanctuary arc, he disobeys Athena's order to stay away and journeys to Sanctuary. His role here is less prominent compared to other Bronze Saints, involving minimal interaction with resurrected Gold Saints. He later attempts to stop the Athena Exclamation attacks with his companions.

In the Inferno arc, he demonstrates maturity and strategic thinking, often paired with the impulsive Pegasus Seiya. He calmly navigates the Underworld, displaying knowledge of figures like Charon and respecting protocols such as payment for passage. At the Hall of Judgment, he peacefully accepts his fate, reflecting his understanding of human nature. He protects Seiya from Pandora's trident, sustaining an injury. His pure soul designates him as Hades' vessel, and he willingly allows the possession to enable his brother Ikki to kill him. After Hades is expelled, he recognizes the futility of attacking the Wailing Wall and tries to halt Seiya's reckless attempt.

The Elysion arc minimizes his significance despite his direct link to Hades. He participates in the final battle but is swiftly defeated by Hypnos, with no acknowledgment of his prior possession during the confrontation with Hades.

In later media, *Saint Seiya: Next Dimension* reveals he becomes the Gold Saint of Virgo, succeeding Shaka. He travels to the 18th century to aid Athena, where Pegasus Saint Tenma notes his resemblance to Alone, Hades' incarnation from that era. In *Saint Seiya Omega*, he retires as a Saint after a wound from Mars infects him with darkness, preventing effective use of his Cosmo. He becomes an itinerant doctor, aiding new protagonists like Kōga and Ryūhō. Despite diminished power, he remains revered as one of his era's strongest Saints. The spin-off *Saint Seiya Episode G: Assassin* depicts him as the Virgo Gold Saint practicing medicine, displaying a mature yet reserved demeanor.
