Description
Police Win, also styled Police-Win, is a Hikarian who serves in the Railway Police Force and is a member of the Hikarian Special Vehicle Squad. In his ordinary form he is based on the WIN350 prototype high-speed test train, which has a police-car-like design with warning lights, and like the other Hikarians he transforms into robot form to respond to incidents. As a member of the Special Vehicle Squad he has his own support trailer, a police trailer equipped with a giant arm.
His defining personality trait is his kind-heartedness. He is sincere and serious about his duties as an officer, and his catchphrase is Arrest. However, his compassion frequently interferes with his work, because he cannot bring himself to ignore people in trouble. He often stops in the middle of a pursuit to help a bystander, which allows the criminals he is chasing to get away. Within the series this becomes a running gag, and he builds a consecutive record of letting suspects escape in at least seventy attempts. Despite his poor arrest record, his goodwill and persistence are treated as genuine qualities, and after special training under Seven he becomes much more successful at catching offenders.
In the story, Police Win acts as a supporting member of the hero team and participates in operations against the Blatcher gang and their schemes. He also shows a nurturing side outside of combat, such as acting as a tutor for the young human character Tetsuyuki after the boy fails a test. His role expands in the sequel series, where he is assigned the designation JHR-015. He makes his debut there with a successful arrest, later helps capture the villain Black Express and the hero Lightning West during a misunderstanding, and continues to show an absent-minded streak when he loses the key to their handcuffs and causes them to run wild. He eventually transfers his allegiance to the AHR faction, briefly takes over duties normally handled by the hero Nozomi, and in the finale he answers a call for unity and contributes to the battle against the principal antagonist Silver Express.
