Description
Activated in 2004 as a GGG super-AI vehicle machine designated GBR-2, Hyôryû became operational five seconds before his sibling unit EnRyuu. Both share the same AI core and training data, yet exhibit opposing personalities: Hyôryû displays a calm, analytical demeanor contrasting sharply with EnRyuu's excitable nature. This dichotomy extends to Hyôryû's ice-based elemental systems.
Hyôryû transforms between a mobile crane vehicle mode and a humanoid robot mode. Initially unable to perform System Change transformations independently, he required an external power boost triggered by Mamoru Amami's heightened emotional state during the EI-06 incident to achieve full functionality. This activation allowed Hyôryû and EnRyuu to support GaoGaiGar in combat. His transformation repertoire includes a unique Semi-Vehicle Mode, maintaining vehicle-form legs while freeing the upper torso to deploy weapons like the Pencil Launcher.
His key armaments are the Chest Thriller (a chest-mounted freezing device for firefighting or offense), a Freezing Gun pistol, and the integrated Power Crane on his shoulder. This crane functions as an extending ladder, houses a Freezing Rifle (later upgraded to fire Ul-Tech energy beams against Machine Primevals), and detaches as a Crane Tonfa for close combat. He also utilizes the Pencil Launcher, firing specialized projectiles such as stiffening gels for rescue operations.
Hyôryû performs combination sequences with other units. Symmetrical Docking with EnRyuu forms ChouRyuuJin when their synchronization ("SympaRate") reaches 100%. Cross-Symmetrical Docking with RaiRyuu creates GenRyuuJin. His ultimate technique, performed alongside EnRyuu, is the Level Infinite Supernova. This point-blank chest blast combination, requiring zero proximity to the target, successfully defeated P-Vater during the conflict against the Sol Masters.
Post-initial conflicts, Hyôryû received upgrades integrating Ul-Tech weaponry. He participated in major engagements against Zonders, Machine Primevals, and later threats alongside GGG forces. Deployment typically occurred via underwater tunnels from the Bay Tower Base or long-range launches using the Triple Decked Flying Carrier's Mirror Catapult.
Hyôryû's robot mode stands 20.5 meters tall and weighs 240 tons, powered by a G-Drive engine with a maximum output of 225,000 kW. His vehicle mode measures 18.5 meters in length with a maximum cruising speed of 300 km/h.
