Description
Ellis is an artificial human created by the secretive Project Leviathan, which aimed to revive supernatural beings using "Witch DNA." She and subject L.A. were the project's sole survivors. Ellis possessed the potential for "Maxwell's Demon," a power allowing conscious control over molecular movement to heat or freeze objects at will. Project director Douglas Rosenberg assigned her to Dr. Heinrich "Heinz" Schneider for study and development.

Initially, Ellis exhibited minimal control over her powers; they surfaced primarily from fear during Schneider's tests. As Schneider grew suspicious of Rosenberg, he planned to flee with Ellis. Rosenberg assassinated Schneider on the eve of their escape, an event Ellis witnessed. This trauma caused severe psychological damage, suppressing her memories including her own identity. Framed for the doctor's death and made a fugitive with a bounty, she traveled south guided by fragmented memories and a fortune teller's advice, eventually settling in Mexico and surviving through card tricks.

Ellis's Witch DNA grants her supernatural abilities, initially involuntary and triggered only by extreme stress or need. These include superhuman strength, temporary levitation, thermal manipulation (heating/freezing), and the ability to extract objects like bullets from bodies. Using these powers often caused physical strain leading to unconsciousness. After a ritualistic death and resurrection triggered by Blue-Eyes using latent witch abilities, Ellis gained full conscious control. This awakening allowed her to reject Rosenberg's influence definitively and resurrect Nadie, bringing peace to the original witches' spirits.

Personality-wise, Ellis started emotionally detached and childlike, speaking with blunt honesty and minimal expressiveness, often seeming robotic. Her emotional growth unfolded gradually during her travels with the bounty hunter Nadie. Initially hired to capture her, Nadie became Ellis's protector under secret direction from Jody "Blue-Eyes" Hayward, a witch descendant safeguarding Ellis. Through shared hardships, Ellis developed deep emotional attachments, particularly romantic love for Nadie. This culminated in a dying declaration of "I love you" to Nadie before requesting death to avoid Rosenberg's capture. This profound bond motivated her subsequent choices.

After Rosenberg's defeat and their resurrection, Ellis and Nadie attempted a quiet life running a shop. Ellis temporarily lost her powers before regaining control. Recognizing Nadie thrived on adventure and bounty hunting, and valuing the sparkle it brought to Nadie's eyes, Ellis chose to return to the road with her. This decision prioritized their relationship and mutual happiness over a settled existence. Her journey marked a transition from a lost, amnesiac creation to an individual capable of love, sacrifice, and self-determined purpose alongside her partner.
