Description
Memoru, a central figure from the planet Riruru, belongs to a group of 245 tiny humanoids stranded on Earth after their spacecraft failed. Palm-sized and resilient, she inhabits a concealed forest village where her community adapts cautiously to terrestrial life, wary of humans and natural predators. With her parents remaining on Riruru, she is raised by her grandfather, the village chief, and a nurturing nanny named Barbara.

Memoru’s striking appearance—violet hair, a scarlet pointed hat, and matching shoes—complements her bold spirit. She wields a magical bubble umbrella to summon Bo-bo, an owl companion for aerial travel. Her adventurous defiance of her people’s caution leads her to explore human territories, where she encounters Marielle, a frail, solitary girl dwelling in a nearby mansion. A transformative moment unfolds when Memoru’s tears miraculously revive Marielle from near death, cementing an unbreakable bond between them.

Guided by loyalty and empathy, Memoru consistently prioritizes Marielle’s safety, navigating risks like evading Penelope, the girl’s strict caretaker, and Oscar, a curious human boy probing extraterrestrial mysteries who evolves into an ally. Her resolve is tested further by clashes with Grace, Oscar’s initially hostile fiancée, whose eventual redemption alters group tensions.

Memoru’s journey traces emotional maturation as she balances longing for her distant parents, communal duties, and moral dilemmas of interspecies secrecy. Her gift for animal communication and role as a bridge between humans and Riruru underscore her adaptability. When her people plan a return to Riruru, she faces a heartrending choice, ultimately remaining on Earth to safeguard Marielle—a decision highlighting her selflessness.

In the OVA *Marielle no Hōsekibako*, retrospective storytelling revisits her profound impact on Marielle’s life, echoing themes of resilience, cross-cultural connection, and compassion’s transformative force. Memoru’s arc weaves sacrifice, courage, and the quiet strength of understanding across divides.
