Roddy Shuffle is among the children stranded during the evacuation of Clayad colony after an assault by the alien Astrogaters. Fleeing aboard the training combat spacecraft *Janous*, the group arrives at Belwick to find its settlement annihilated. Tasked with securing their survival, Roddy and his companions master piloting VIFAM mechs and confronting cosmic dangers as they strive to reach Earth.

Their odyssey intensifies when they discover a crippled alien vessel and its wounded pilot, who exposes an Astrogater infiltrator within their ranks. The accusation fractures trust among the children, compelling Roddy to navigate escalating suspicion while defending against external attacks. Later captured during a skirmish, Roddy is imprisoned on Tuat, an artificial satellite orbiting the Astrogater homeworld Kukto. Within its confines, he allies with dissident Astrogaters opposing their tyrannical leaders, coordinating a perilous breakout to destabilize their mutual foes.

After freeing Tuat’s captive aliens, Roddy uncovers that the Astrogaters relocated the abducted human parents to Kukto. This revelation propels the group toward a hazardous infiltration of the enemy homeworld, cementing Roddy’s transformation from a displaced youth to a resolute commander rallying fractured factions against a common threat.
