Description
Okyō is a black cat with green eyes, companion animal to Juli "J" Sawaragi. She bears a white stone on her collar granting her speech, awakened prior to the series by J's pyroxene stone activation. Her personality manifests intense devotion to J, whom she considers superior, though she occasionally reveals a softer side. This loyalty drives her active involvement in J's Battle Spirits activities, including identifying Bashin as J's potential rival during their initial meeting.
Okyō maintains a fierce rivalry with Bashin's pet mouse Aibou, frequently chasing him. This pursuit inadvertently triggers significant events, such as an athletics meet between their schools where her chase leads her onto the field. She trips Striker, causing his hospitalization and permanent leg injury. Remarkably, Striker later thanks her, as this incident introduces him to Battle Spirits during recovery.
When J joins the Thousand Spirits Group as Number Eleven (Jack Knight), Okyō follows, adopting the alias "Queen." Within this affiliation, she actively obstructs anyone interfering with J's path, including his sister Kyouka. Her loyalty faces a test when Aibou and other companion animals urge her to return to J's original allies. Okyō engages Aibou in an official Battle Spirits match but loses. Despite defeat, she remains with the Thousand Spirits Group partly to aid the others' escape.
After J's defeat by Bashin during a tournament, Okyō returns with J to their friends. During Team Shomen Toppa's participation in the King Uchuuchouten Cup, she infiltrates the control room with the other pets to thwart Number Nine's schemes, assisted by J and Hayami Bashin. In Bashin's final battle against King Uchuuchouten using a six-life system representing the chosen battlers' stones, the destruction of Okyō's life reverts her to a normal cat. Her final words express love for J before she loses speech.
The series epilogue implies restoration of her speaking capabilities when J regains access to Isekai World, suggesting the stones' powers are renewed. In Battle Spirits, Okyō utilizes a white attribute deck similar to J's, documented cards including Berserker-Gun (spirit), Icemaiden (spirit), Fenrircannon (spirit), and Pure Elixir (magic). Her only recorded battle is a single-match loss against Aibou.
