Description
El Matadora is one of the main protagonists of The Doraemons, a spin-off manga and anime film series based on the larger Doraemon franchise. He is a robotic cat from 17th century Spain, specifically living and operating in Barcelona. In terms of physical appearance, his body is primarily red, and he notably lacks cat ears, instead possessing a pair of curved, cream-colored ox horns on his head which can sometimes pose an unintentional threat to those around him. He typically wears a traditional matador's outfit, complete with a pink hat and a ruffled suit, and is often seen with a rose in his mouth.

His personality is described as macho, brash, and coarse, yet he also has a notable flirtatious side. He exhibits the passionate and artistic temperament of a stereotypical Spanish romantic, and his demeanor changes dramatically in the presence of a beautiful girl, becoming polite and gallant, greeting them as "señorita" while offering a rose. Despite his heroic nature, his behavior can be somewhat reckless and clumsy, which often leads to trouble in his daily life. A particularly prominent trait is his love for napping; he can fall asleep anywhere and at any time, a habit that mirrors that of the main Doraemon character, Nobita Nobi.

El Matadora's primary motivation is to become the number one matador in the world. In pursuit of this dream, he has achieved mastery over his signature tool, the Magic Cloak, which he uses in combat to deflect attacks or blow away opponents. He possesses superhuman strength, considered the greatest among all the members of The Doraemons, allowing him to perform feats such as swinging a bull around or lifting an adult elephant. His preferred way of eating the signature treat dorayaki is with spaghetti sauce.

His backstory explains that he was one of seven mischievous students at the Robot Academy. After a mission to rescue their comrades, the seven robots became close friends and used their Friendship Telecards to form a team dedicated to fighting evil. In his everyday life, El Matadora works as a dishwasher at a gyūdon restaurant named Carmen, though his great strength proves to be a problem in this role, as he is constantly and carelessly breaking plates and dishes. This often earns him the ire of the short-tempered chef, who is also his landlord. Living with the chef is his daughter, Carmine (or Carmen), a kind-hearted girl who is an excellent chef and is aware of El Matadora's double life; she also serves as his love interest.

In the story of The Doraemons: The Mysterious Thief Dorapan The Mysterious Cartel, the team is called upon to investigate a mysterious thief named Dorapan, whose actions are revealed to be part of a larger plot orchestrated by a shadowy organization known as The Mysterious Cartel. As a member of the team, El Matadora uses his unique skills and gadgets to help his friends navigate a series of traps and confrontations to thwart the Cartel's plans for a powerful weapon. This role is consistent with his position in the group as a close friend and ally to the other Doraemons, including Doraemon, Dora-nichov, Dora-the-Kid, Wang Dora, and Dora-med III.

Beyond his public persona, he secretly operates as a local masked vigilante known as Keikai-Dora, who fights for justice and protects the poor. In this alter-ego, he is known to resolve disputes in a playful manner, such as cutting off the trousers of villains or carving his distinctive D-shaped crest into their clothing, which is a clear parody of the hero Zorro. Carmine is one of the few people who knows his secret identity. A key relationship is with his fellow team member Wang Dora; the two frequently argue and clash, with El Matadora finding Wang Dora to be overly nosy and bossy. Despite this, he deeply respects his rival's intelligence and fighting prowess, and they maintain a strong friendship that often expresses itself through teasing and competition.
